Somerset win by 8 wickets and 63 runs balls to spare!
Tom Banton - 40 (24) | Craig Overton - 3/8 Ross Whiteley - 18 (23) | Nathan Ellis - 1/15
Supreme, spotless, and rather seamless way to get the two points for Somerset as they begin their campaign with a win. After losing the semi-finals last year, the hosts had revenge on their minds in this game, and boy, didn't they get that? It was the bowlers who laid down the marker for them in the first innings, bundling out the defending champions for a misery total.
The run chase was fairly straighforward. After a sedate start, Tom Banton blitzed his way to 40 to motor along in this chase, even after losing Will Smeed he kept going from one end and wanted to finish things off in a hurry. Well, he couldn't quite do that but did most of the work anyway. It was another Tom, Kohler-Cadmore, who added the finishing touches to wrap things up with Tom Abell.
It was an utterly dominant display from the Somerset bowlers, getting enough help with the new ball and making the most of it. As for Hampshire, it's all about dusting themselves off and moving forward in the tournament, because there's still a long way to go. Not the usual excitement of a Blast game tonight, but there was quality cricket for most parts to keep us entertained.
9.3 Mason Crane to Tom Kohler-Cadmore, GAME.SET.MATCH! It's a stunning start to the campaign for Somerset as they completely pinned the Hawks down. Slower through the air angling on leg-stump, Cadmore works it wide of short fine leg and gets a single
Scores are level
9.2 Mason Crane to Tom Kohler-Cadmore, FOUR! Brute power from Cadmore. Fuller delivery around off-stump and it's been slammed wide of long-off and the ball beats the diving long-off fielder to his right comfortably
9.1 Mason Crane to Tom Abell, works the length delivery towards deep mid-wicket and takes a run
Mason Crane, right-arm leg break, comes into the attack
Somerset need only 6 runs from 66 balls. Can Tom Kohler-Cadmore finish things off in style?
