11:35 pm local time (11:35 pm IST): The IML T20 Final is all set! A Sunday showdown between hosts India Masters, led by Sachin Tendulkar, versus West Indies Masters, led by Brian Lara! Can it get any better? It sure can't! So do join us at 7 pm local time (7 pm IST) for the toss on 16 March, friends. It should live to the expectation for sure! For now, this is the pair of Rajarshi and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Brian Lara (West Indies Masters captain): It was a tremendous effort from the team! We did take it deep, but the boys deserved the win. We were a bit slow up front with the bat, but once we reached 80, we knew that we need at least 100 more. So, we did not lose our way in the middle and created that launching pad for the last few overs to take the game away from them. We did lose a few bowlers towards the end due to injuries, but we held out nerves and that's what matters!
Tino Best (Player of the Match, 4/27 off 4 overs): I always want to be a game-changer! Brian gave me the ball at important times and I deliveried. Upul Tharanga's wicket was the best for me, because he can do some damage against all kinds of bowling after Kumar Sangakkara!
11:30 pm local time (11:30 pm IST): It's time for the post-match presentation!
Kumar Sangakkara, Sri Lanka Masters captain: Couple of mistakes on the field got them 20 runs more than they should have, and then losing wickets in a clump cost us. Not very often do you see four batters caught down the leg side. That's what happens in crunch games. It was fun, a very good tournament. The standard of cricket was good and that was the key. Everyone had a good time. Long time between now and the second season, tournament's got legs, well organized, I'm sure it'll get tightened up as it progresses and players stay fit.
11:17 pm local time (11:17 pm IST): West Indies Masters win by 6 runs and go through to the Final!
Denesh Ramdin 50* (22) | Tino Best - 4/27 (4) Asela Gunaratne - 66 (42) and 1/14 (2)
What a fitting semi-final match it was! It was alive till the last ball of the match and had it been a six, we would have gone to a Super Over! That was how nail-biting this game turned out to be!
But, the pressure of the occasion got to Asela Gunaratne, who otherwise played a fantastic knock, and he failed to take his team over the line. West Indies Masters did not have the services of two premier pace bowlers - Ravi Rampaul and Jerome Taylo r- at the back end. So, the load had to be borne by Dwayne Smith and Lendl Simmons to do the dirty work.
It was a bit of a stutter of course, as Isuru Udana, Dilruwan Perera and of course Asela smashed it around the park to take the match really close. A catch that Brian Lara dropped proved to be immensely costly for his team, as Asela made Simmons pay for it later on in the over!
But the 19th over from Tino Best and the 20th from Simmons again, pulled things back. West Indies Masters did pick up quite a few lucky wickets along the way, as well. .
As for Sri Lanka Masters, they needed at least one player from the top order to click. Since that did not happen, the lower middle-order and the lower order had to do a lot of the heavy lifting, which was just a bit too much!
The pitch played really well and everyone had his chance on it. On the whole, it was apt for a game of this proportion with so much on the line!

19.6 Lendl Simmons to Asela Gunaratne, skied... THE CATCH IS TAKEN! Lendl Simmons, handed the ball for the last over comes up trumps eventually! He went full, angling this into the batter. Gunaratne skipped down the wicket, took it on the full and looked to hoick it over long on. Got a lot of height but not nearly enough distance. Perkins ran in from the deep, took the catch and sealed a six-run win for the West Indies Masters and a berth in the final!
Asela Gunaratne c William Perkins b Lendl Simmons 66 (42b, 7x4, 1x6)
Six to take us to a Super Over!
19.5 Lendl Simmons to Asela Gunaratne, slower ball, on a fuller length outside off. Gunaratne swings for the hills, meets thin air. 6 to tie the game...
