Commentary

That will be all for today's coverage! Sri Lanka make a remarkable comeback to win the series after losing the first match. They do it in front of the crowd which came out in numbers to support their home side. The players will now celebrate the series victory and pose with the trophy while we sign off from here. Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka captain: Throughout the game, we played excellent cricket. Toss was a pivotal character in the series, playing a significant role. Pitch was a little slower; we agreed that 270 was the optimal speed. We were 20 runs down, but we knew our spinners would step up. I arrived after returning a positive Covid test, as did Chameera. As a result, I prepared for this series and hoped to do well. I'm overjoyed to have gotten the hundred. We were missing about eight players for this series, yet we still won it. I'd want to express my gratitude to the crowd for showing up in large numbers and showing their support for us.

Craig Ervine, Zimbabwe captain: We've put on some excellent shows, but we're unhappy to be wrapping off the tour in this manner. The pitch was quite dry, and the pace was only going to slow down. In the first ten overs, we were completely destroyed. Our opening duo is a great plus. We were having trouble with it. Kaitano is a fantastic find, and I'm sure he'll be staying up there for a long time.

Pethum Nissanka, Player of the Series: Pleased about getting this award. I enjoy opening the batting and the adjustment from a middle order batter to opener has paid off for me.

Charith Asalanka, Player of the match: It was a very good innings and I am very happy about it since we were on the winning side. It was a challenge because the pitch wasn't very easy to bat on. I just wanted to bat for 15-20 overs and I was able to do that. I just want to win the games for my country.

At the end of the first inning, it looked like a match setup nicely but turned out to be a once sided affair in the end. Dushmantha Chameera had other things in mind, completely shattered of any hopes of the visitors to win the series. Sri Lanka needed this kind of performance with the ball after their batters struggled throughout to get the score moving.

Chakabva, Ervine and Williams all fell cheaply and in space of 11 overs they were fouir down for just 30 on the board. They still had hopes with Sikandar Raza was yet to come but he went back to the dug out without disturbing the scorers. Once the top order faltered, it was difficult for Zimbabwe to make a come back into this game, they were rattled by the early blows, Burl was the only one who showed some resistance and the wickets kept tumbling at the other end.

For Sri Lanka, the pick of the bowlers tonight are Chameera, Vandersay and Mendis who picked up 8 wickets among themselves and not to forget Theekshana's pressure in the powerplay that yielded wicket later on. Chamika Karunaratne picked up a wicket as well. Zimbabwe skittled out for 70 in the end, not the performance they would be proud of though.

Though Sri Lanka didn't bat as well as they would've liked they did bowl like champions to win the series, there were questions raised when they lost their second game but they came back brilliantly and showed what they are famous for.

Zimbabwe have a lot to take from this ODI series, they were brilliant in the first two game, they just didn't bowl well in the first game but they did correct all the mistakes in the second and won that to square the series but things didn't work out quite well for them in this third and final ODI!

That's it, Vandersay has his fourth wicket of the game and Sri Lanka wrapped things up real quick, just 24.4 overs to bowl out Zimbabwe and win the series in style, 2-1!
