That brings us to the end of our coverage for this GLT20 Canada encounter. Till the next time, this is me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) and Pragadeesh signing off. Goodnight!!
Marcus Stoinis (Surrey Jaguars captain): It is a disappointing feeling to be on the losing side. We know that we haven't performed to the best of their strengths. There was an opportunity for us to grab the moments but we didn't do that. Yes we have a game tomorrow and will look to finish it off in a positive fashion.
Shakib Al Hasan (Player of the Match and the Bangla Tigers Mississauga captain): I needed to stay there till the end. It's very tricky for a new batter so I was very disappointed. I tried the positive option but got out. Lucky to get the match done and qualify for the playoffs. We didn't want the latter batters to be under pressure. Luckily we got the runs in the end. No not really wasn't thinking of the catch, I dived and it stuck. We didn't really well, put the ball in the right areas and made them play most of the deliveries. Bowling has been great today, batting has been a bit up and down but it happens in pitches like this.
Bangla Tigers Mississauga won by 2 wickets (match reduced to 18 overs)
Shakib Al Hasan 36(30) | Curtis Campher 4/17(3) Shreyas Movva 21(25) | Ben Lister 3/12(4)
It turned out to be a cracking game of cricket and at the end of it, the Bangla Tigers Mississauga just about managed to hold their nerves and scrape through to the victory target. On a pitch that looked tacky right from the outset. A target of 109 wasn't going to be a straightforward one under any stress of imagination.
Khalid Shah was elevated up the order and kept swinging at everything. Muhammad Waseem provided the impetus in the powerplay with a massive over against Logan van Beek. He was smashed for 17 runs which included a couple of fours and a six.
Lister made the breakthrough in his next over with Khalid getting castled. Rahmanullah Gurbaz joined the UAE superstar in the middle and the duo batted brilliantly to get things going. Gurbaz in particular smashed s couple of lusty sixes to announce his arrival.
It looked they were playing on a completely different surface. Lister was given another extra over in the powerplay and he brought about the downfall of Waseem. The match seemed to have turned on its head when Sunil Narine was introduced into the attack. He castled Gurbaz with a flatter one which skidded through and kept very low.
Curtis Campher was the next to go as he couldn't quite pick Narine’s wrong un. At 52/4, it seemed to be slipping out of their hands but the pair of Shakib Al Hasan and Iftikhar Ahmed ensured that they built some momentum in the middle overs and kept finding the boundaries occasionally. Shakib in particular was the aggressor among the two.
It was the return of Logan van Beek which again turned the match. He bagged the prized scalp of Iftikhar Ahmed. Out came David Wiese to join Shakib in the middle. When the Bangla Tigers captain hit a couple of boundaries of Logan van Beek in the 16th over it all looked done for the Bangla Tigers. However a baffling shot brought about his departure.
With 6 required off the final over, David Wiese nicked one to the keeper. It was a very tricky situation when Pargat Singh came out to bat but he held his nerves and struck a brace before guiding one over the short third man fielder to take his team to a big win in the end. Ben Lister and Logan van Beek were the pick of the bowlers for the Jaguars with three and two respectively to their name.
Logan van Beek (Surrey Jaguars) - Tomorrow is our last match and we want to put up a complete performace. We were 10-15 runs short. The pitch was on the slower side. Haven't found my rhythm in the powerplay but came back to get a few overs. It's a nice fun to talk to and let's see what happens in the future
Pargat Singh with a two ball cameo and it was exactly what the Bangla Tigers needed desperately. A good looking dab over the short third man fielder to get it done for his team. The Surrey Jaguars fought till the end but it wasn't to be as the score of 108 just fell short. A cracking game of cricket, a low scoring thriller here at Ontario and the Bangla Tigers just about getting the job done.
17.3 Marcus Stoinis to Pargat Singh, FOUR! Pargat wins it for the Tigers! Cross-seam delivery on a good length, Pargat smartly uses the pace and dabs it over short third for a boundary
17.2 Marcus Stoinis to Pargat Singh, good length delivery outside off, Pargat punches it on the up but the fielder at deep cover dives forward to keep the batters down to two
Pargat Singh, RHB is the new man in.
17.1 Marcus Stoinis to David Wiese, EDGED AND TAKEN! Stoinis strikes. Cross-seam delivery on a fuller length, Wiese swings away from the body but gets an outside edge. Movva takes it comfortably.
David Wiese c Shreyas Movva b Marcus Stoinis 4 (7b, 0x4, 0x6)
