Sean Strickland often raises eyebrows with his unconventional opinions in his media interactions, and he also riles up a considerable number of people through his provocative social media posts. His controversial views aside, Sean Strickland is a prominent face in the world of the current crop of professional mixed martial artists. He has been able to turn the tide in his favor and has found newfound success in his career by churning out some of the best performances of his career in recent times.

Sean Strickland made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2008 and has competed in multiple weight classes. He competed in welterweight and light heavyweight and currently competes in the middleweight division. Over the course of his fourteen-year career, Strickland has compiled a professional record of 28 wins and 6 losses.

Sean Strickland saw a major push coming his way when he recovered from consecutive losses he suffered against Alex Periera and Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 and UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Strickland. He went on to make a dramatic return to winning ways by beating Nassourdine Imavov and Abusupiyan Magomedov at UFC Fight Night: Strickland vs. Imavov and UFC Fight Night: Strickland vs. Magomedov.

Strickland saw the wheel of fortune turning in his favor when the former UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, called him out for a middleweight title bout at UFC 293. Adesanya was originally scheduled to face the leading contender, Dricus du Plessis; however, his withdrawal due to a foot injury prompted Adesanya to call Strickland out, who was ranked No. 5 in the middleweight rankings at that time.

Sean Strickland locked horns with Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 for the middleweight title. Despite entering the bout as a significant underdog, he put on a gritty performance and outworked Israel Adesanya by defeating him via unanimous decision, ending Adesanya’s championship reign. Sean Strickland faced Dricus du Plessis at UFC 297 to defend the middleweight title for the first time but came up short and lost the title to Dricus du Plessis by losing to him via split decision.

Moreover, Strickland will face Paulo Costa at UFC 302 on June 1, 2024.
