David Lane Johnson, more commonly known in the NFL as Lane Johnson is an offensive tackle and plays for the Philadelphia Eagles franchise. Johnson has become an integral part of the Eagles’ formidable offensive line. In fact, this bunch of players have come together to form the best offensive line in the entire NFL in 2022 and 2023.
For Johnson, the love of the game drives him to continuously watch recordings and figure out a way to get an edge over his opponent. He enjoys breaking things down and finding solutions to the problems the opposition defense could pose. Preparation for a game usually means getting to know everything about the players on the other team. At 6 foot 6 inches, the current leading offensive tackle in the game has long arms, enormous strength, swift footwork, and most important of all, an intelligent mind which reads the situation at hand.
Johnson’s story of how he turned out to be a great offensive lineman is exciting and somewhat inspiring. He is not the typical player who had been playing the position since his high school days as even though he was always tall, he wasn’t as big back then. It is interesting to note that Johnson started out in the sport playing quarterback and tight end before moving over to the role he has excelled at so very well.

Lane Johnson Early Life
The Eagles’ right tackle was born on May 8, 1990, in Groveton, Texas, a very small city to the middle-east of Texas. He went to Groveton High School and started playing on the school’s football team. Along with football, Johnson also had an interest in track and field and competed well in throwing events such as the shot put.
In 2008, Johnson attended Kilgore College in Texas for one year where he played quarterback and tight end on the Kilgore Rangers’ football team. He didn’t have the best year for the team under center, throwing only 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions while amassing just over 500 passing yards. The next year, in 2009, he switched to the University of Oklahoma and joined the Oklahoma Sooners football team. In his first year, he redshirted and joined the practice squad as a quarterback.
In 2010 he got the chance to play as a tight end on the football team, but that position also did not last too long. The next season in 2011, the Sooners were in a precarious situation as two of their starting linemen were out with injuries. The coach asked several players to try out for the offensive tackle position and was so impressed seeing the natural blocking abilities of Johnson that he immediately transitioned him to the right tackle position.
From that moment onwards, Johnson’s role in the football team was cemented as he would go on to play the remaining 12 games at right tackle. The next year he started eleven games as a left tackle proving his flexibility as well.

Lane Johnson was born to parents David Johnson and Ray Ann Carpentier. The Texas native is also an only child. Lane’s father used to be a bull rider when he was younger and might have even turned into a professional but his fatherly duties prevented him from continuing further. As a result, his father then turned his attention towards construction work.
His mother on the other hand used to be a ballet dancer during her younger days, but she never liked to perform on stage. She was only happy to practice but would freeze if she ever had to go on stage. Johnson’s parents divorced when he was young and hence the family has been through many hardships. However, they all have the same tough mentality which doesn’t allow anyone or anything to pull them down. She used to be a social worker in the criminal justice system which basically meant her job was that of a therapist for the inmates.

Lane Johnson was previously married to his now ex-wife Chelsea Johnson. The pair were married from 2013 till 2019 which is when they got divorced. Chelsea and Lane first met each other in college at the University of Oklahoma. Both of them were into sports as Chelsea was a member of the high jump team. Lane Johnson Draft
After coming through two good years as a right tackle and then a left tackle with the Sooners football team, Lane Johnson was considered as one of the better tackles in college. He was also invited to the 2013 Senior Bowl where he impressed with his footwork, body control, and balance in addition to keeping pass rushers at bay. NFL analyst Bucky Brooks called him the standout player which helped his case for a first-round draft possibility tremendously.
Continuing to put his best foot forward before the NFL draft, Johnson attended the NFL Combine and put in a brilliant performance coming in the top three in many categories. He also attended Oklahoma’s Pro Day and held practices with various NFL teams which further improved his chances of getting drafted early.
Eventually, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Johnson with the fourth overall draft pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. What is interesting to note here is that he was the third offensive tackle taken in the top 4.
Fellow notable draftees from this draft class include number one overall pick offensive tackle Eric Fisher, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, running back Le’Veon Bell, quarterback Geno Smith, tight end Travis Kelce, and many more.
Lane Johnson NFL Journey
Lane Johnson has found Philadelphia as his second home having been with the Eagles franchise since his draft in 2013. It has been a decade now and still he is going strong. He has been a huge part of the Eagles’ highly successful offensive line and was also a member of the Super Bowl LVII winning team that defeated the mighty New England Patriots in 2018.
Lane Johnson Teams
Philadelphia Eagles (2013 - present)
The quick and strong tackle entered the NFL in 2013 and started competing with veteran right tackle Dennis Kelly on the Eagles team. Although behind Kelly in the pecking order, Johnson would see action immediately from the first game of the regular season as Kelly had to undergo surgery. Thrust into the starting role as a rookie, Johnson played well and helped his team win the NFC East.
The next year he was suspended for the first four games since he had tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. However, in the rest of the year, he allowed only 1 sack against him. Another PED issue popped up in 2016 for which he was suspended for 10 games but according to Johnson, he was not aware that the substance he used was banned by the league as it was not listed.
Since 2017, his career has improved greatly and he has stayed away from any further suspensions. The 2017 season was a great one as the Eagles won the Super Bowl and then Johnson signed a new contract making him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL. In the 2022 season, he even set a record of not allowing a single sack in 26 consecutive games.
Lane Johnson Net Worth
As per several sources online, Lane Johnson has a reported net worth of approximately $4 to $8 million. However, this seems to be highly unlikely considering the amount of money he is making in the league. One source has reported an approximate net worth of $59 million which seems much more accurate. Almost all of his net worth is in the form of his NFL salary with very little income from his lone Bud Light brand endorsement deal.
Lane Johnson Net Worth 2023 | $59 million |
Lane Johnson Net Worth 2022 | $50 million |
Lane Johnson Net Worth 2021 | $42 million |
Lane Johnson Net Worth 2020 | $40 million |

Lane Johnson Net Worth 2018 | $28 million |
Lane Johnson Brand Ambassador
Being a member of the offensive line isn’t one that generally excites anybody. Not the fans, not the audience at home and unfortunately not the advertisement agencies as well. Even though they are equally important members of the team, they are constantly overshadowed by players from other positions. As a result, Lane Johson does not have too many endorsement deals apart from the Bud Light deal.
Aside from this Lane Johnson has also been recruited by Kooth, a no-cost mental health service in Philadelphia to be their ambassador. Kooth specializes in dealing with mental health and depression problems faced by the youth in the city of Philadelphia.
Lane Johnson Investments
No credible information regarding any investments made by Lane Johnson could be found.

Currently, the 33-year-old is on a four-year deal worth $80,750,000. This contract includes a $18,835,000 signing bonus and he has $30,000,000 guaranteed. His average annual salary over this period will be $20,187,500. In the 2023 season, Johnson will earn a base salary of $1,165,000 and a signing bonus of $18,835,000. This new deal will catapult his career earnings to approximately $180 million by 2027 and will see his net worth grow substantially.
Lane Johnson Achievements
Being a member of the offensive line means there are not as many achievements to list for the position. These players are as important to the team’s success as the players in other positions but unfortunately for them, there are no stats that show their levels of success.
Having said that, offensive line players do get judged on their ability to pass block, run block, not allow sacks, and other such metrics. Accordingly, Lane Johnson has achieved the following in his NFL career till now:
Super Bowl champion - Super Bowl LII
2 time First-team All-Pro - 2017, 2022
Second-team All-Pro - 2021
4 time Pro Bowl - 2017–2019, 2022
Lane Johnson Diet
The 6 foot 6 inch, 325 pounder has an insane diet. He currently consumes around 5,000 to 6,000 calories per day. That is an astonishing piece of news reported by a PhillyVoice staff writer.

He has converted an old horse stable into a fully functioning gym. Many times he has his teammates come over for some weight training and Johnson himself spends a lot of quality time there staying fit.
While it is not confirmed, it has been reported that his house which is nearby on the same plot has five bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Lane Johnson Cars
The impressive offensive tackle seems to have a penchant for cool cars. He is reportedly said to have a $3 million Bugatti Chiron in his garage, by far his most expensive car.
