About Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the oldest franchises in the National Football League (NFL) history. The Pittsburgh Steelers were established as the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1933 and renamed themselves as the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1940. The Steelers did not enjoy much success in the NFL before the NFL-AFL merger in 1970. However, after the merger, the Steelers became one of the most successful NFL franchises and, as of 2025, hold the record for being the team with the most Super Bowl victories (tied with the New England Patriots). The golden period for Black and Gold came during the 1970s, when they established a dynasty with Terry Bradshaw, a.k.a. original "TB12", pulling strings from under center while the Steel Curtain shut down opposing offenses. The Steelers, who have an enormous national following, have a large fan base that calls itself the ‘Steeler Nation’. The franchise was estimated to be worth around $5.3 billion in August 2024, as reported by Forbes.
Pittsburgh Steelers Next Game
After losing in the wildcard round once again in the 2024-25 playoffs, Pittsburgh will be next seen taking the field in August 2025, when the NFL preseason starts.

Pittsburgh Steelers Roster 2025-26
The 6-time Super Bowl champion will be seen deploying almost an entirely new offense in the 2025 season. The quarterback room in Pittsburgh will see only one familiar face from last season in Mason Rudolph, return, after the team moved on from both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in the offseason. Steelers GM Omar Khan also offloaded running back Najee Harris, wide receiver George Pickens, and offensive linemen Dan Moore Jr. and James Daniels. While Pittsburgh took a flier on former Ohio State QB Will Howard in the 2025 NFL draft, several reports suggest that Mike Tomlin and Co. are still waiting on Aaron Rodgers' decision. While the Steelers brought in a legit No. 1 option on the outside by trading for DK Metcalf, they traded George Pickens to Dallas. The defensive side of the ball will see key starters in T.J. Watt and Cam Heyward return. The Steelers also upgraded their defense by adding Darius Slay, Derrick Harmon, and Jack Sawyer through free agency and the draft.

Pittsburgh Steelers Owner

Art Rooney II is the owner and president of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Rooney family has owned the Pittsburgh Steelers since their inception in 1933. Art Rooney, founder of the franchise, served as the owner until he died in 1988, after which his son, Dan Rooney, took over. Dan's son, Art Rooney II, serves as team president as of 2025. Aside from being a football executive, Art Rooney II also practised law for 2 decades in areas such as corporate finance, sports law, and government affairs. He also holds an Of Counsel position at a law firm, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney.
Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach

Mike Tomlin, head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, is one of the most decorated names among NFL fans and inside the coaching circle. The 53-year-old head coach (as of May 2025) has never had a losing record throughout his eighteen-year tenure as head coach (as of 2025). Aside from winning Super Bowl XLIII, Tomlin has led the Black and Gold to one more Super Bowl appearance. Under Tomlin's leadership, Pittsburgh has reached the AFC Championship game 3 times while also winning the AFC North crown nine times as of May 2025. In his 18 seasons serving as the head coach of Black and Gold, he has a win-loss record of 183-107-2.
Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback
As of May 8th, 2025, who will be Pittsburgh's starting quarterback come regular season is still up in the air. Their quarterback depth chart reads like: Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and a 6th-round pick from the 2025 NFL draft, Will Howard. From those three, Rudolph might have the best chance at winning the starting position due to his familiarity with the Steelers organization from 2018 to 2023. After spending a year in Nashville, Rudolph returned to Steel City in 2025. However, over the next few months, everything can change based on former Buckeyes signal-caller Will Howard's performance during the rookie minicamp and training camp. On the other hand, 4-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, who is still waiting to make his decision, can also join the Steelers in the next couple of months, as per various reports.
Pittsburgh Steelers Mascot

Steely McBean is the official mascot of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was introduced by the franchise in 2007 (via Steelers Wire). The mascot has a jutting jaw and day-old stubble, per ESPN. He wears black overalls with the Steelers logo on the chest.
