The Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the most historic franchises in the realm of football, have been a playoff disappointment for the past eight seasons. After the 2016 season, Pittsburgh has not won a single postseason game and has been one-and-done in their 5 playoff appearances since then. Tomlin, who will be entering his 19th season as a head coach for the Steelers, will be tasked to finally get the franchise over the wildcard hump in the upcoming season.
With four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers coming to Steel City, the Steelers did get adequate firepower under center. In a division consisting of Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow, Rodgers' arrival gives Pittsburgh a chance to come out victorious in the AFC North.
What is the Pittsburgh Steelers' depth chart for 2025-26?
Amid the Aaron Rodgers saga, it’s easy to forget that the Steelers made one of the biggest offseason splashes by trading for DK Metcalf and extending him until the 2029 season. However, Steeler Nation’s dream of seeing both Metcalf and a 1k-yard receiver, George Pickens, lining up on the outside at the same time was crushed when Steelers GM Omar Khan sent him packing to Dallas in exchange for a couple of draft picks on May 7th, 2025. Another huge departure was running back Najee Harris, who signed with the Chargers in FA. Pittsburgh did add Kenneth Gainwell and Kaleb Johnson to form a trio of running backs with Jaylen Warren already on the team.
On defense, Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan addressed the need on the defensive line by selecting defensive tackle Derrick Harmon. Harmon might also help the Steelers transition in the future from Cameron Heyward, who is 36 years old (as of May 2025), and get a staple piece on the d-line for the foreseeable future.
