The New York Jets, winners of Super Bowl III, are in the midst of one of the longest active playoff droughts in North American sports history. The Jets' last postseason appearance came in the 2010 season. To put it in context, the only other team across four North American major leagues (NHL, MLB, NBA, NFL) to have a similar playoff drought is the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL, who have also not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010-11 season. While the Jets fanbase was infused with hope two seasons ago when the team traded for 4-time MVP Aaron Rodgers, two years down the road, everything fizzled out, and New York released him in March 2025.

The upcoming season has Jets fans once again invested in the team with a new management in the town. New York hired Darren Mougey as the franchise’s new general manager and gave head coaching duties to Aaron Glenn. Both Glenn and Mougey are rookies at their respective positions heading into the 2025 season.

What is the New York Jets' depth chart for 2025-26?

Mougey’s biggest signings in free agency included quarterback Justin Fields and cornerback Brandon Stephens. Fields' signing shows the Jets' belief in the 2021 1st rounder to reach his potential, while Brandon Stephens was brought in to fill the CB2 spot opposite Sauce Gardner after D.J. Reed left for Detroit during free agency. The Jets also awarded linebacker Jamien Sherwood a lucrative 3-year contract after he put up career numbers in his first full season as a starter in 2024 for Gang Green.

After taking offensive tackle Olu Fashanu last year, the Jets completed their starting tackle tandem by selecting Armand Membou in the first round of the 2025 draft. However, it wasn’t until round two that New York addressed its biggest need going into the draft, i.e., starting-calibre tight end. With the 42nd overall pick in the second round, the Jets took LSU tight end Mason Taylor.
