Since the arrival of C.J. Stroud in 2023, the Houston Texans have found themselves at the top of the pecking order in the AFC South. However, Texans and Stroud might face a bit of an obstacle to win their third straight divisional title, as not only did the division get better, but also Houston failed to get significantly better during the offseason. While Stroud’s presence alone keeps them as the favorites to get atop the AFC South, it’s needless to say that the Texans did not gain any ground on AFC contenders like the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens.

What is the Houston Texans' depth chart for 2025-26?

The biggest work heading into the offseason for general manager Nick Caserio was to build an offensive line that could keep their young superstar signal caller upright, after Stroud was sacked 54 times in 2024 (4th most in the NFL), as per Statmuse. However, trading Houston’s most consistent o-lineman in Laremy Tunsil to Washington was not an ideal start for Nick Caserio during free agency. While Texans added some big bodies on the trenches like Cam Robinson, Laken Tomlinson, and second-round pick Aireonte Ersey, none of them warrants any confidence in the whole unit.

On the positive note, Houston was quite active in the wide receiver market as they added quite a firepower in Christian Kirk, Jaylin Noel, Jayden Higgins, Braxton Berrios, and Justin Watson during the offseason. Texans' secondary, which was already stacked and picked off opposing QBs 19 times (second-most interceptions in 2024 per ESPN), got only better by trading for C.J. Gardner-Johnson from Philadelphia.
