AFC Divisional Playoffs - Cincinnati Bengals v Buffalo BillsSource: Getty Images

The Cincinnati Bengals, who will be entering their 6th season in the Joe Burrow era, will be hoping to get back into the postseason in 2025 after missing the playoffs for two consecutive years. The biggest addition via subtraction for Cincinnati came in the form of letting go of former defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. Under Anarumo, the Bengals' defense gave up 25.5 points per game in the 2024-25 season (via ESPN), which was one of the worst in the NFL.

While Cleveland may be the worst-performing team in the AFC North based on their quarterback conundrum, Cincinnati would still have to pass through the Baltimore Ravens and Mike Tomlin’s Pittsburgh Steelers to come out on top in the divisional race. If the Bengals were to miss the playoffs for 3rd straight year, there might be questions raised about head coach Zac Taylor’s future.

What is the Cincinnati Bengals' depth chart for 2025-26?

While it took a while, the Bengals did lock both of their star wide receivers, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, long-term. However, as of May 2025, talks between Cincinnati’s front office and star defensive end Trey Hendrickson have not come to any conclusion regarding his future in Cincinnati following the 2025 season. The Bengals' sack leader from last year, Trey Hendrickson, has expressed his desire not to play for the Bengals in 2025 without a contract extension, according to The Athletic. Hendrickson’s uncertainty and Sam Hubbard’s retirement in the offseason made Cincinnati opt for Edge Shemar Stewart in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. Cincinnati also filled up one other major need at linebacker by selecting Demetrius Knight Jr. in the second round of the draft.

The franchise also departed with offensive linemen Trent Brown and Alex Cappa during the offseason. The third-round pick from the 2025 draft, Dylan Fairchild, has a fair shot to win the starting left guard position, as per Bengals' offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher, per ESPN.
