Professional golfer Davis Thompson was born on June 5, 1999, in Auburn, Alabama. He started playing golf in his early teens.

Davis Thompson's Amateur Career

Attending Lee-Scott Academy, Thompson was a part of the team that won six straight state championships from 2012 to 2017, including a state championship in basketball in 2016. In 2013 and 2015, he also won the individual state championship.

He played as a student-athlete for the University of Georgia from 2017 to 2021 and was selected for the All-American First Team in 2020 and 2021. He was also the 2021 SEC Player of the Year. While having such a successful amateur career, he won four individual championships, including the 2019 and 2021 NCAA Regionals.

Following his graduation in 2021, Thompson joined the Korn Ferry Tour as a professional. After opening the Rocket Mortgage Classic with a two-stroke lead after round one, he scored a bogey-free 9-under 63 to finish T58 in his sixth PGA Tour start overall and third as a professional.
