Belt Design

Women's World Championship | WWE

The Women's World Championship looks very identical to the current design of the World Heavyweight Championship on the male roster. Both the titles resemble the famous Big Gold Belt of WWE and WCW and are of gold design with golden plates as well. Not only does it take inspiration from the Big Gold Belt, but it also incorporates a big W in the middle like all the major current belts in WWE. All in all, it looks like a title to fight for.

History of Women’s World Championship

WWE reintroduced the brand split in 2016, where the wrestlers are exclusively assigned for a particular brand (either Raw or SmackDown) on which they got picked. During the 2016 Draft, the WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was drafted to Raw and took the championship with her, leaving the SmackDown women’s division without a championship. In August 2016, the SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon and the SmackDown’s General Manager unveiled the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Subsequently the WWE Women’s Championship was renamed as Raw Women’s Championship.

A six-pack elimination challenge was announced at Backlash to crown the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion. Becky lynch won the match and became the first-ever SmackDown Women’s Champion. As of March 2023, the SmackDown women’s Championship has been through 36 reigns,13 champions and one vacancy. Charlotte Flair has the most number of championship reigns of seven. Bayley's second championship reign of 380 days is the longest championship reign of a SmackDown Women’s Champion. Charlotte Flair’s fourth reign is the shortest at less than 1 day. Bayley holds the record for the longest combined reign of 520 days. Naomi is the only champion who vacated the championship. Becky Lynch is the only person to hold both Raw and SmackDown Women's Championship simultaneously. Carmella, Bayley and Liv Morgan are the three champions, who won the championship by cashing in the Money in the Bank contract. Charlotte Flair is the only person to be crowned as the SmackDown Women's Champion by exchanging her Raw Women's Championship. Asuka is the oldest to hold the championship at age 37 and Alexa Bliss is the youngest at age 25.

In 2023, the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship was renamed to Women's World Championship and its RAW counterpart was named WWE Women's Championship. However, currently, the Women's World Championship is a title exclusive to RAW due to draft 2023.
