Liv Morgan: A Brief Biography
Liv Morgan (birth name: Gionna Daddio) is an American actress and professional wrestler. The 30-year-old was born on June 8, 1994, in Morristown, New Jersey, U.S. The Women's World Champion signed a contract with WWE, where she performs on the RAW brand, as of November 2024. She once held the title of SmackDown Women's Champion. When Morgan joined WWE in 2014, she was given a contract and sent to the WWE Performance Center. She later made an appearance in NXT as Liv Morgan. The inaugural WWE Women's Crown Jewel Champion was promoted to the main roster in 2017 and joined forces with Sarah Logan and Ruby Riott to form the stable known as ‘The Riott Squad’.
Morgan switched to competing in singles after the stable broke up in 2019. After a few months of competing as a single, she met up with Riott, who had been out due to a shoulder injury for months, to resurrect the Riott Squad as a pair rather than a trio after Logan's release. The Women's Money in the Bank ladder match was won by Morgan in 2022, and she cashed in that same evening by defeating Ronda Rousey to win the SmackDown Women's Championship, the first championship of her wrestling career.

Liv Morgan’s Early Life
Gionna Jene Daddio was raised in the nearby New Jersey community of Elmwood Park. She was raised by her mother after Daddio's father passed away; she has four older brothers and a sister. Daddio used to wrestle in the backyard with her siblings and has long been a fan of professional wrestling.
Daddio worked as a waitress for the restaurant chain “Hooters” and was a former competitive cheerleader.

NXT (2014 - 2017)
Daddio signed a contract with WWE in 2014 after being discovered at Joe DeFranco's gym in Wyckoff, New Jersey. In October of that same year, NXT gave her a job assignment. On February 11, 2015, at the NXT TakeOver: Rival pay-per-view, she made her television debut as a planted fan who attacked Tyler Breeze as he made his entrance.
On May 20, she once more made an appearance at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable as part of Breeze's entrance. She briefly competed in professional wrestling in October 2015 under the ring name Marley, making her television debut on the November 4 NXT episode as a jobber who lost to Eva Marie.
Daddio made her return on the NXT episode of December 2 and lost to Emma while using the new ring name Liv Morgan. On the NXT episode from January 13, 2016, Morgan participated in a battle royal to determine who would challenge Bayley for the NXT Women's Championship, which was ultimately won by Carmella. Morgan defeated Aliyah on the August 31 NXT episode to earn her first televised singles victory.
After her match, she started a rivalry with The Iconic Duo (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce), and both women confronted her. Two weeks later, Morgan and Kay faced off in a match that Kay ultimately won thanks to Royce's interference.
The match between her and Royce on NXT's November 16 episode ended in a disqualification because Kay interfered by attacking Morgan and Aliyah before Ember Moon intervened. On the November 23 episode of NXT, the three competed in a six-person tag team match against Kay, Royce, and Daria Berenato, with Morgan's team winning.
The Riott Squad (2017 - 2019)
Morgan made her main roster debut alongside Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan on the November 21, 2017, episode of SmackDown Live, attacking both Becky Lynch and Naomi and establishing themselves in the process. They attacked Charlotte Flair and Natalya after interrupting their match, which was taking place that same night.
The trio, now known as "The Riott Squad," made their in-ring debuts for the company the following week on SmackDown Live by defeating Flair, Naomi, and Natalya in a six-woman tag team match.
As the eleventh participant in the first women's Royal Rumble match on January 28, 2018, at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Morgan was defeated by Michelle McCool. Morgan competed in the 20-woman WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34 on April 8 to make her WrestleMania debut, but she lost the match.
As part of the 2018 Superstar Shake-Up, The Riott Squad was added to the Raw brand on April 16, which led to the match between Bayley and Sasha Banks ending in a draw. The Riott Squad were defeated by Natalya, Bayley, and Sasha Banks at the pay-per-view women's Evolution on October 28.
Morgan competed in the women's Royal Rumble match on January 27, 2019, at Royal Rumble, but she was the first to be eliminated after only 8 seconds, breaking the previous record for the shortest time in a women's Royal Rumble match.
At the titular pay-per-view on February 17, Morgan and Logan participated in a six-team Elimination Chamber match for the first WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, where they were the third team to be eliminated by Nia Jax and Tamina. On April 7, Morgan took part in a women's battle royal match at WrestleMania 35, which Carmella ultimately won.

Brand Switch (2019 - 2022)
The Riott Squad was effectively disbanded when Morgan was transferred to the SmackDown brand as part of the Superstar Shake-up on April 16. Morgan confronted Charlotte Flair on the July 16 SmackDown Live episode and engaged her in a match, which Morgan lost via submission.
On the RAW episode of January 27, 2020, Morgan defeated Lana, and she did it again the following week. After her conflict with Lana was resolved, Morgan started a conflict with Ruby Riott, a former teammate in the Riott Squad who later turned against her. Morgan defeated Riott with Sarah Logan serving as the special guest referee on the March 2 episode of Raw.
Morgan competed in her second Elimination Chamber match on March 8 at Elimination Chamber, where she lost to eventual champion Shayna Baszler. Morgan defeated Natalya on the WrestleMania 36 pre-show on April 5. Following WrestleMania, Morgan and Riott continued their feud, and Morgan won.
Morgan and Riott were selected for the SmackDown brand in the 2020 Draft, which took place in October. On April 10, the first night of WrestleMania 37, they competed for a chance at the Women's Tag Team Championship, but they lost the contest. On June 2, 2021, WWE released Riott, effectively dissolving The Riott Squad for a second time.
On January 1, 2022, Morgan lost a rematch for the championship. On January 19, she competed in the Royal Rumble match at the titular event, where she entered at #6 but was defeated by Brie Bella.
Morgan defeated Doudrop at Elimination Chamber on February 19 to advance to a Raw Women's Championship match at WrestleMania 38, but she was defeated by Alexa Bliss. In March, Morgan and Rhea Ripley started working together. On April 3, during the second night of WrestleMania 38, they lost their attempt to win the Women's Tag Team Championship.
SmackDown Women’s Champion (2022 - 2023)
Morgan and Alexa Bliss defeated Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. on the June 13 episode of RAW to earn a spot in the women's Money in the Bank ladder match. At the July 2 event, Morgan won the "Money in the Bank" contract, giving her the option to compete in the women's championship match whenever she wanted.
Morgan became the third woman and fifth superstar to successfully cash in the Money in the Bank contract the same night after winning it later that evening, following the SmackDown Women's Championship match between Natalya and Ronda Rousey.
On July 30, Morgan and Rousey would rematch at SummerSlam, with Morgan controversially keeping the title. The referee counted Rousey's shoulders down after Morgan submitted to her armlock, awarding Morgan the victory by pinfall. Rousey attacked Morgan and the referee following the match.
On September 3, at Clash at the Castle, Morgan defeated Shayna Baszler to defend her title. On the SmackDown episode airing on September 9, Rousey triumphed in a crucial five-way elimination match, earning a rematch with Morgan at Extreme Rules. The following week, Rousey accepted Morgan's challenge to compete for the title in an Extreme Rules match. The SmackDown Women's Championship was returned to Rousey at the event on October 8, ending Morgan's 98-day reign.
Tag Team Championships reigns (2023)
At the main event on January 28, 2023, Morgan then participated in the women's Royal Rumble match. She started at position two and lasted for more than an hour before Rhea Ripley, the match's winner, and the first participant eliminated her. With official times of 1:01:08 for Ripley and 1:01:07 for Morgan, they surpassed Bianca Belair's record of 56:52 set at the 2021 Royal Rumble. She then competed in the women's Elimination Chamber match at the main event on February 18, but Natalya and Asuka eliminated her.
She competed in the Women's WrestleMania Showcase fatal-four-way tag team match alongside Raquel Rodriguez. The pair failed to win the match as it was won by the team of Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. The following night, they defeated Damage CTRL and became the number 1 contender for the Women's Tag Team Championship. On RAW next week, the two defeated the reigning champions Lita and Becky Lynch marking Morgan's first tag title victory.
The two defended the titles against Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville before being drafted to RAW. The two then had to vacate the title after Morgan suffered a shoulder injury. She made her return in June 2023 and teamed up with Raquel Rodriguez to challenge the champions Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank 2023.
At the event, Morgan sought revenge against Rousey for her title loss against her as Morgan and Rodriguez managed to regain the tag titles. Their celebration, however, did not last long as they lost the titles in two weeks to Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville.
Return and Revenge (2024- present)
Liv Morgan returned at the 2024 Royal Rumble and entered at number 30. She finished as the runner-up for the second year straight. She later participated in the Elimination Chamber match however was the last woman eliminated by Becky Lynch. Morgan attacked Rhea Ripley, who injured her arm and vacated the Women's World Title. As King and Queen of the Ring, she won the Women's World Title after an interference from Dominik Mysterio.
Following a successful title defense against Lynch, Morgan turned heel. She formally joined The Judgment Day after Ripley and Damian Priest were forced out of the stable. At SummerSlam, Morgan defeated Ripley with help from Dominik, marking Ripley's first loss by pinfall since 2022. At Bash in Berlin, Morgan and Dominik lost to Ripley and Priest in a mixed tag match. At Bad Blood, Morgan lost to Ripley by disqualification but retained her title after Raquel Rodriguez attacked Ripley. Morgan beat WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax to clinch the inaugural WWE Women's Crown Jewel title with an assist from Dominik Mysterio and Raquel Rodriguez in November at Crown Jewel.
