Many fans felt the T20 format would be dominated by the batters only, but the bowlers have proven them wrong.
The first ICC T20 World Cup took place back in 2007, and in the inaugural edition of the tournament, the bowler with the most wickets was Pakistan’s Umar Gul. The right-arm pacer picked up 13 wickets.
Speaking of the highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup, the bowler with the most wickets in a single edition of the T20 World Cup is Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga who scalped 16 wickets in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. He was also the highest wicket-taker in the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup as well.
