Professional golfer Lydia Ko was born in New Zealand on April 24, 1997. She is a player director on the LPGA Board. She became the youngest player, male or female, to hold the top spot in the professional golf rankings when she debuted at the top of the Women's World Golf Rankings in February 2015, at the age of 17.

She was the youngest individual to win an LPGA Tour event at the age of 15. She also became the sole amateur to win two LPGA Tour titles in August of 2013, and the youngest woman, 18, to win a major tournament when she won the Evian tournament in France in September 2015.

Ko was listed as one of Time magazine's 100 influential people in 2014. Ko was also included on the list of 25 athletes and influencers that have had the biggest positive impact on women in sports for EspnW Impact25 in 2014 and 2015. Ko was named a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to golf in the 2019 New Year Honours, having won the Young New Zealander of the Year award in 2016.
