Matthieu Pavon is a French professional golfer born on November 2, 1992. He turned professional in 2013 and began playing on the Alps Tour, where he won his first professional event, the 2014 Open International de Rebetz. In 2015, he moved to the Challenge Tour, and by 2017, he earned his European Tour card. His breakthrough on the European Tour (now the DP World Tour) came in 2023 when he won the Acciona Open de España.

Later that season, Pavon finished tied for 15th in the Race to Dubai standings, securing his PGA Tour card for 2024. He made history at the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open, winning his first PGA Tour title and becoming the first Frenchman to do so in nearly a century, since 1907. As of February 2025, he is ranked No. 42 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), with a career-high of No. 20, achieved in May 2024.

Matthieu Pavon’s father

Matthieu Pavon’s father, Michel Pavon, is a former soccer player and coach. He played professionally for three different Ligue 1 teams between 1986 and 2001. Michel spent the majority of his professional career as a player or coach with FC Girondins de Bordeaux. He retired in the 2000-01 season at the age of 32 due to an injury.

Michel took over as head coach of FC Girondins de Bordeaux in 2003. However, he had to leave a season later owing to heart issues, but remained with the team as a scout. He rejoined the FC Girondins de Bordeaux as head coach Jean Tigana's assistant in 2010. However, he left again in February 2011. He retired from soccer coaching in 2016 after working with amateur teams.
