That's all from the Super Smash for today. We will be back with more. Keep following Sportskeeda for more. Till next time, bye bye.
Peter Younghusband | Wellington captain: Pretty gutted about that one. Incredible knock by Robbie, that one over changed everything. Second game we have fallen short with the ball. We went through the exact same thing the last game. Lots of decisions go through your head and I need to look back at that. But it was a great game. When you are 5-down with less than 50 in two games a row, it is difficult to post a defendable score but we are bowling superbly. It is tight-knit and makes all the games coming up all the more key.
Robert O'Donnell | Player of the Match: Nice to contribute today. It was a bit slow today, the wicket we have used 4 times but it was still a fairly good batting wicket. We looked to target one over and it came off. You want to be putting performances on the board most days and it was good to be batting with KJ [Kyle Jamieson], good to have him back. Find way to win games - that's what we are about. Probably expecting a last-ball finish but guys with cool heads got us through. We would have liked to restrict them to less but Logie [Logan van Beek] came out and played a fine knock. Someone has to get a bit of tap in this format and we have to ride through it. You want a 10-wicket win and blow them for 80 but we take whatever win we get.
Thrilling game and the Aces sneak home. Earlier they were rocked by Peter Younghusband who came on and changed the game around with a 3-fer after a 44-run opening stand.
Auckland slipped to 76/5 but their skipper Robert O'Donnell rescued them with a brilliant innings of 59 from just 27 balls.
The turning point of the game came when he struck 30 off one Michael Snedden over to flip the game on its head. Till then Wellington were holding the advantage.
Nathan Smith gave Wellington hope with a fine 19th over and Ollie Newton got Delport first ball of the last over but byes ensured that the Aces scraped home.
Stay tuned to find out who the Player of the Match is.
Auckland Aces beat Wellington Firebirds by 2 wickets!
Robert O'Donnell 59 | Nathan Smith 3/13 Logan van Beek 54 | Peter Younghusband 3/19
What a way for the Aces to win. Byes as the keeper lets his team down.
20.0
19.3 Ollie Newton to Adithya Ashok, FOUR BYES! THE AUCKLAND ACES WIN! At a length outside off, comes back in. Ashok swings at it and misses. Keeper Callum McLachlan sees the ball die on him but cannot get his gloves down in time to collect it. The ball goes past him for four byes- he is a top class keeper, and one can only feel for him!
19.2 Ollie Newton to Adithya Ashok, at a length outside off. Ashok works it towards midwicket off the inside edge. NO RUN!
19.1 Ollie Newton to Louis Delport, GOES HIGH AND TAKEN! Short of a length outside off, slowish delivery. Delport tries to play the inside out shot over covers but ends up hitting it straight up in the air. The fielder at cover, Jakob Bhula, stations himself under it and takes the catch quite comfortably! Big wicket!
Louis Delport c Jakob Bhula b Ollie Newton 7(5) (1x4)
