Pat Cummins: The wicket was still pretty good. We knew we were up against it. Keep putting some balls in some good areas, hopefully the luck turned. But that wasn't the case, they batted beautifully. We had 150 overs to try and take 20 wickets on a pretty good batting surface. Really proud of all the efforts. I thought Nathan Lyon was outstanding. I'm really happy with how everyone is travelling. I think everyone can hold their heads up high. Hopefully, we’ve got 10 big Test matches with India, the Ashes and hopefully the WTC Final. Exciting time ahead.

Dean Elgar: It's good to end the tour like this. Touring Australia is never easy. But obviously the message to the group last night was we have got to go out and fight on day five and I think it's going to help us in the future. If you think about it, there's only three or four guys that have toured here in the past. The rest was all brand new experiences. I think the learnings from that is these guys might be playing here again in a couple of years time and obviously there are a lot of learnings out of that. I know I'm the captain but I'm also a runscorer and I know that hasn't worked out of late but I know I'll be back. I know my character and I know I'll come out stronger.

David Warner | Player of the Series: It was a fantastic performance by the whole team. We would have all liked to bat a bit more. But credit to our bowlers. Our bowlers were fantastic. Hopefully this Sydney weather is better next year. Massive away tour now with WTC on the line. If results go our way and we win a couple of games, that’ll put us in good stead to get to the final.

Usman Khawaja | Player of the Match: I'm just enjoying the good times at the moment. [The SCG] can be a grinding wicket, a slow wicket, spin is always in the game so you need to have your options against spin. I would love to have a double ton next to my name but at the end of the day it's a great way to showcase cricket and what cricket stands for. I think any children watching out there, or anyone watching how Australia plays their sport, it's always team first and I think that's very important when you are playing a team game. This is the first time I have beaten a South African team at home. Both teams played well, we had some tough times last series, both on and off the field. But loved the way both teams performed throughout this series.

Steve Smith: We tried a lot out there. Three or four umpire calls didn't go our way. If we take those things, it could be have been different. Today's one I was certain that I caught it, I agree with the other day but today I was confident. It feels really good, plans in place and hopefully, I can keep that up come India. Into some quality Test match cricket after a few days in the BBL. That's part of the game. For me it's just working out how I want to bat. Pre-conceived ideas and hopefully, I can do that in India as well. It has been a nice Test summer, will have a drink with the boys in the dressing room. I mean, its tough to say whether this is the best team. We are in a very good space. This is a really good team and everyone is contributing.

Josh Hazlewood: It was a big challenge at the start of the day 14 wickets was a tough ask. It was back to the old SCG, good fun today; Yeah I think. sticking to the basics. We were getting some reverse swing. I was doing my role with just two quicks. Not the easiest wickets to bowl on. Different time of bowling which we will come up with against India. That's stump-to-stump bowling in India. Worked on the field, it was a big challenge. Playing one Test at a time is a bit frustrating. Body actually feels better in your 2nd or 3rd Test.

As expected the SCG Test ends in a draw. The weather had a large part to play in it. The first three days were badly hampered by rain with the third day being a total washout.

From then on it was a race against time to get a result and even though Australia tried their best, the placidness of the track did not allow them to take 20 wickets.

Earlier in the game, Australia posted a massive 475/4 declared with Usman Khawaja unbeaten on 195. He was set for a double ton but rain and Cummins' declaration took that out of him. A disappointment for sure for the left-hander who registered his highest individual score in Tests.

Labuschagne and Smith made runs too. The latter surpassing Sir Don to go to 30 Test tons. What a summer though for Marnus who must surely be considered to be one of the best Test batsmen going around currently.

In reply South Africa faltered to be bowled out for 255 with Harmer and Maharaj adding respectability to the score after another batting failure.

Hazlewood was the pick with a four-fer as he impressed on his return to the side.

Australia duly enforced the follow-on on the last day, but time was against them and South Africa safely saw it through to eke out a draw.

The series though went to Australia who dominated it to win 2-0.
