Delhi beat Odisha by 7 wickets, pocket six points.
They might be out of the tournament but Delhi signed off from the Ranji Trophy season on a high, registering a 7-wicket win over Odisha, who were steamrolled for 133 in the second innings. Sumit Mathur's 5/26 off 17 overs was the standout performance for the hosts, who then needed to chase just 123. And so they did, taking just 20.3 overs for the same with Ayush Badoni (40* off 33) and skipper Himmat Singh (32 off 31) leading the way. Delhi finished Group D in third position with 22 points to their credit while Odisha finished at the bottom with just 12 points.
Stumps on Day 3 - Delhi 451 all out, lead Odisha by 11 runs in the 1st innings.
A slender 11-run lead is what Delhi managed to pocket thanks to Yash Dhull's 112, Jonty Sidhu's unbeaten 105 and Kshitiz Sharma's defiant 64. It was hard work for the Odisha attack as they failed to avoid a deficit. Their batters will now have to blaze away in order to try and set up an improbable win in quick time but at the very least, they'd want to avoid defeat and ensure they don't collapse. Whatever happens though, Delhi's fate has been sealed and they will not be able to progress to the knockouts.
Stumps on Day 2 - Delhi 187/2, trail Odisha by 253 runs in the 1st innings.
It was a better morning for Delhi's bowlers as they kept Odisha's first innings score to 440. Biplab Samantray (110) recorded the innings' second ton after Subhranshu Senapati fell for 111 although an alarming collapse saw Odisha lose their final five wickets for a mere ten runs. In response, Delhi went about their work superbly and at a brisk pace with Anuj Rawat (40), Gagan Vats (67) and Yash Dhull (56*) all making their presence felt. With in-form skipper Himmat Singh still to come, Delhi will look to pocket a lead big enough for them to press for a win with a bonus point given their situation on the points table.
Stumps on Day 1 - Odisha 314/4 in the 1st innings.
A superb outing for Odisha with the bat as they racked up 314 runs on the back of Subhranshu Senapati's unbeaten 109 and skipper Shantanu Mishra's 76. A steady 58-run opening partnership paved the way for Odisha to cash in on good conditions with Delhi's bowlers kept at bay at the Jamia Milia Islamia University Ground in the capital city. Pranshu Vijayran and Sumit Mathur bagged two wickets apiece and they need to strike early on the second morning to vault Delhi back.
