He mightily impressed on his debut as he opened the innings with Dhruv Shorey and registered a very distinct record of registering twin tons in his maiden FC match, becoming the third to do so Nari Contractor and Virag Awate in Ranji Trophy history.
Dhull registered a maiden double-century in only his third FC match against Chhattisgarh.
Yash Dhull IPL Career
Following his untainted achievements in his Under-19 career, Yash Dhull was snaffled up by the Delhi Capitals in the mega auction of the Indian Premier League in 2022, immediately after the Delhi batter led India U-19 to its fifth title.
Earlier, the Delhi-based franchise had let go of a similar India U-19 trophy-winning captain from Delhi in the form of Virat Kohli for bowler Pradeep Sangwan in the inaugural edition of the IPL, and it came back to bite the team stupendously. Dhull made his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians and is yet to make a mark in the cash-rich league, after playing across just 4 games in IPL 2023.
Yash Dhull Under-19 Career
Yash Dhull captained the India-19 team in the Under-19s Asia Cup 2021 and scored 115 runs in 5 innings. Dhull had a tremendous Under-19 career as he not only led the team to the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup title but also was splendid with the bat.
He scored 229 runs in 4 innings at an average of 76.33 and was India U-19 team’s third-highest run-getter. He became the third India U-19 captain to score a century in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup after Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand when he scored 110 against Australia U-19 in the tournament's semifinal.
Yash Dhull Captaincy
Yash Dhull was appointed as the India U-19 for the Under-19s Asia Cup 2021. He led the team to victory in the final against Sri Lanka Under-19s. On the back of his successful captaincy, Dhull led the India Under-19 team in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
He was thrown into the spotlight when he led the India Under-19 team to its fifth title as they defeated England Under-19 in the final of the tournament. The Delhi batter became the fifth captain to achieve the feat and joined the elite list of Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand, and Prithvi Shaw to win an Under-19 Cricket World Cup as a skipper.
He was appointed as the skipper in December 2022 to alleviate Delhi's performance in the Ranji Trophy. With results being stationary, the 21-year-old was sacked from captaincy in early 2024 and Himmat Singh was named as his successor.
Yash Dhull Family
Yash Dhull’s father Vijay Dhull has been proud of his son’s achievements time and again and expressed the same numerous times. His mother Neelam Dhull spotted him shadow-batting and decided to enroll him in an academy.
