MATCH OVER!
England won by ten wickets!
Ireland 1st Inns 172-10 England 1st Inns 524-4 d Ireland 2nd Inns 362-9
England 12-0
Zak Crawley 12 (4b)
An easy victory in the end for England although they would have liked to done it without coming to bat again. It just took four balls for Zak Crawley to score the 12 runs and finish the game off. Credit should go to Ireland considering they dragged the game this late into the day after starting it in a lot of trouble.
The game was, however, done in the first innings as Ireland only managed 172 with Stuart Broad taking a five-wicket haul under helpful conditions. As usual, the English batters came out with a lot of aggression with Ollie Pope registering a double century while Ben Duckett made 182 off just 178 balls. On the whole, England made 524-4 off just 82.4 overs before Ben Stokes decide to declare. Just like the first innings, Ireland's top-order struggled while things were made worse with James McCollum retiring hurt with an ankle injury. The young pair of Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector saw Ireland through on Day 2 but the former got out six short of the fifty-run mark as Jack Leach struck the first blow on Day 3.
On the other hand, Harry Tector did reach the milestone but he was soon dismissed by Josh Tongue. A couple of deliveries later, Joe Root struck as Curtis Campher was sent back with Ireland on the verge of a collapse. Yet, the all-round duo of Mark Adair and Andy McBrine batted positively to ensure that they registered fifties and also went close to getting their names on the honours board. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be as Matthew Potts had Adair caught-behind with a short delivery while the seamer also removed Fionn Hand a few overs later. Ireland eventually took a lead and went to Tea but Stuart Broad bowled a beauty to get rid of Graham Hume to set-up a 11-run target for his side. From there on, it didn't take much time for the all-aggressive English side to complete the formalities!
0.4 Mark Adair to Zak Crawley, FOUR! IT'S ALL OVER! England thrash Ireland by 10 wickets, but take no credit away from Ireland for that fight they put up in the second innings. Crawley walks across the line and smacks it past the diving mid-on fielder to seal the game.
0.3 Mark Adair to Zak Crawley, FOUR MORE! No hanging around there, short and well outside the off-stump, Crawley punched on the backfoot, through covers and races away through the hill for another boundary.
0.2 Mark Adair to Zak Crawley, length delivery on the off-stump, Crawley presses to defend it into the off-side.
0.1 Mark Adair to Zak Crawley, FOUR! SHOT! Crawley wasting no time there. Short into the batter, Crawley pulled that one firmly behind square, races away and finds the ropes. This could be done and dusted in this over itself!
Welcome back to the final innings of this solitary Test between England and Ireland. The hosts only require 11 runs to win this match. So, this should be done pretty quickly! Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett stride out to open!
What a beauty from Stuart Broad and Graham Hume's stumps have been pegged back. James McCollum can't come out to bat. So, Andy McBrine will unfortunately be stranded on 86! Meanwhile, England will have to come out and get 11 runs to register a victory here!
86.2 Stuart Broad to Graham Hume, OUT! CLEANED HIM UP! That's it, Ireland resistance is over. This one tailed back in late, Hume gets forward to play but sneaks past the outside edge and knocks off the off-stump as Broad picks up his first wicket. McBrine walks back as he falls short of 14 of a milestone!
Graham Hume b Stuart Broad 14 (33b, 3x4, 0x6)
86.1 Stuart Broad to Graham Hume, FOUR! Frustration continues for England as Broad walks back shaking his head. Hume leans to defend with soft hands, runs down to third-man and finds the ropes.
Good over from Matthew Potts constantly testing both the edges of Graham Hume. Interesting that Hume has taken strike now
