Matthew Potts Domestic Career
At the age of 18, Matthew Potts made his domestic debut for his home side Durham against Kent on June 8, 2017. He played under the leadership of former English skipper Paul Collingwood in Canterbury in the County Championship Division Two. On his first-class (FC) debut, he was dismissed for a duck in the first innings and went wicketless in the second. Potts managed to pick up a solitary wicket in the second innings.
Under the captaincy of Tom Latham, the 25-year-old pacer made his List-A debut for Durham against Yorkshire in Chester-le-Street in the Royal London One-Day Cup 2018 on May 18, 2018. He picked up a three-wicket haul in his maiden outing, which included the likes of Indian Test veteran Cheteshwar Pujara, Adam Lyth, and Harry Brook.
In the T20 Blast 2019, Potts made his T20 debut for Durham against Northamptonshire in Chester-le-Street on July 19, 2019. He picked up a couple of wickets in the match and was economical with the ball too. Potts returned with figures of 3-0-11-2 at an economy of 3.66 and conceded just a solitary boundary.
In the County Championship Division One 2024, Potts added a maiden first-class century to his name. Batting as a night watchman, the pacer recorded an unbeaten 149 against Warwickshire in Birmingham.
