That's all that we have for you from the Tamil Nadu Premier League this evening. One final match remains this season - the biggest of them all - the summit clash between Lyca Kovai Kings, arguably the best team in the competition, and a rampant Dindigul Dragons side, with heaps of momentum beneath their sails thanks to successive knockout wins. Join us right here on Sportskeeda in the evening on Sunday for our coverage of that, and keep following us for a lot more! This is Rajarshi Das, signing off on behalf of Pragadeesh Shanmugam. Good night!
Ravichandran Ashwin (Dindugal Dragons skipper) - We haven't play a proper game yet. I hope we play our best game in the final. If we take the efforts, we can make them learn. Sometimes, I used to yell at them, and at times, I tell softly, but the important thing is that I convey the vital message always. The boys might relax seeing the low total but I was just telling them to be serious. In a professional game, these totals can be dealt but here, players can afford to relax. Coming into the tournament, I wanted to open but in that rain-affected game, I hurt my hamstring, so didn't open. Shivam Singh will be ready for the final
P Vignesh (Player of the Match) - I had a lot of interactions. The roles are very clear and we have adapted to it. I stuck to the process and routines, and it worked. He only said normal stuff
Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore (IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans skipper) - The season has been fantastic. There was a lot of potential and belief in the team. Everyone had hope and expectation and we played our best. We didn't have any momentum and the choice of shots wasn't good. If we had score 150-160, we would've fought hard but nothing can be done with 110. (On Ashwin) He is a legend and a world-class player. It's hard to pick one cricketer but too many players from our team will be the mainstay for Tamil Nadu in the furture
Match summary:
Dindigul Dragons win by 9 wickets with 55 balls to spare
Ravichandran Ashwin 69 (30) | P Vignesh 3/8 (4) Maan K Bafna 26 (19) | P Bhuvaneswaran 1/22 (1.5)
Thanks to an entertaining opening stand, the Dragons made light work of the task of chasing 109. The game was up for the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans by the end of the powerplay itself - they began decently with Natarajan and Sriram Ajith Ram keeping things tight with the new ball. However, it was a matter of time before Ravichandran Ashwin, opening the batting today, got going, and there was no looking back.
Both Ashwin and Vimal Khumar took their time - they had the luxury to do so. Natarajan and Ajith Ram did well to cramp them for room and land the ball on a length, and the Dragons only had 14 on the board in the first half of the powerplay. Ashwin then proceeded to apply the long handle - he took his chances, threw Ajith Ram off his lengths, helping fetch 17 off the fourth over.
The floodgates opened up nicely for the Dragons after that - 17 came off Sai Kishore's first over, and the Dragons were going at almost 10 at the end of the first six. Vimal Khumar gradually got in on the act as well, but he failed to stay in the middle till the end. Ashwin did, however, bringing up a second successive half-century for himself in the process. He finished the game off in some style - with two sumptuous hits over the leg side off Bhuvaneswaran.
That is that! Two crunching blows from the Dindigul Dragons skipper - Ravichandran Ashwin paves the way to the final for the Dragons!
10.5 P Bhuvaneswaran to Ravichandran Ashwin, SIX! DINDUGAL ARE THROUGH TO THE FINAL! It's a smashing knock from their skipper. He makes it look so easy in the middle. Another slow delivery outside off, Ashwin bludgeons it over long-on and the fielder watches the ball go over his head
10.4 P Bhuvaneswaran to Ravichandran Ashwin, SIX! ONE HIT AWAY! Dug it short and the off-pace delivery sits up on the surface, Ashwin slams the pull over deep mid-wicket for a maximum
10.3 P Bhuvaneswaran to Baba Indrajith, dug it short angling back, Indrajith helps it behind square and gets a single
10.2 P Bhuvaneswaran to Baba Indrajith, good length delivery, Indrajith nudges it to mid-wicket and gets a couple
