That brings us to the end of our coverage for this MLC encounter. We have got a lot of live cricketing action lined up through the afternoon time. Do join us then and for many more on Sportskeeda but for now this is me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Pragadeesh. Goodnight! Cheers!
Faf du Plessis (Texas Super Kings captain): We needed this win badly. The previous game we batted really well but unfortunately it was a rained-off game. From a batting perspective, it was very clinical. From the captaincy perspective, we had a few more batting options. So today was nice to see how different bowlers and batters gets used to different conditions. Look I think mentally is the most important thing. Still trying to work hard as the game keeps evolving. Giving myself more options to be attacking is what I have been working on. You have to evolve as an opener and have to strike at over 140. If you don't think like that the game will get on top of you. I am still enjoying my time in the middle. From the number perspective, it's about looking as good as it gets. Superstars after superstars in all the teams. The American players, you can't ask for anything more. Picking guys and taking to them after the game is great. It's really well structured. American cricket will take huge benefit for them. Mohsin has become my main weapon. Great skill and we have seen leg spinners with their tails up. He had enough thing to throw at you as a bowler.
Corey Anderson (San Francisco Unicorns captain): Look we didn't start too badly. We lost wickets in clumps but was ahead in the run rate. Some of these things can happen in T20 cricket but pretty disappointing. From my side, poor execution but that kind of stuff can happen. On another day, you could have got another 40-50 runs. Don't want the guys to put off the peddle. This kind of things can happen in franchise cricket. We don't have to change a lot. I will stick back the guys to make the right decisions. We blasted LA a couple of days ago. Hopefully we can get this loss away and focus on the next game. Watto has been great. He brings a calm demeanor to the group.
Mohammad Mohsin (Player of the Match) - The fast bowlers set the tone and it was easy for me to bowl on this track. I kept it simple. Bowled stump-to-stump and the batters have to hit against the wind. Being a local guy gives us a lot of confidence. The support system has been good. The presence of the International stars helps in a big way and I get to learn a lot
Aaron Hardie (Texas Super Kings) - It's a pretty good surface the surface that had something for both batters and bowlers. We weren't matching our standards and were sloppy with the ball. The condition is hot but we played a lot of games here. We got Faf and Conway at top and they batted brilliantly today."
Texas Super Kings won by 7 wickets (with 43 deliveries to spare)
Faf du Plessis 34(17) | Mohammad Mohsin 4/13(3.5) Matthew Short 33(15) | Hassan Khan 2/16(2)
It turned out to be a walk in the park for the Texas Super Kings as they chased down the target of 128 with utmost ease in the end. They didn't need to break a sweat chasing it down in the 13th over with seven wickets in hand. Faf du Plessis and Devon Conway got off to a flying start as both openers found their feet straightaway.
Conway started off with a boundary of Haris Rauf in the first over and added two more in his next over. He didn't try to hit the ball hard, instead it was all about timing and placement. A couple of delectable strokes got him going while Faf du Plessis took the onus on himself from the 4th over. He smashed Brody Couch for a boundary and a six to get things going and continued the charge in the next over.
Liam Plunkett was at the recovering end of some high quality shots from du Plessis with three sixes coming off that over. However Plunkett had the last laugh, bagging his wicket on the final delivery of the over. However by then, the damage was already done and it needed something dramatic from the San Francisco Unicorns to stage a comeback. Du Plessis’ 34 came off 17 deliveries and was laced with a four and four sixes.
Conway and Aaron Hardie then combined forces to continue the onslaught. Plunkett continued to be expensive as he conceded three more boundaries in his next over and the pressure couldn't quite build on the Super Kings. Conway had to leave the park after getting hit on the gloves by a spicy delivery from Haris Rauf.
Hardie continued the good work and smashed a 23 ball 34 which included 3 fours and a couple of sixes. He was dismissed in the 12th over as he tried to finish the game off quickly. In the end, it was Mitchell Santner and Milind Kumar who stitched a small partnership, taking the Texar Super Kings over the line with 43 deliveries to spare.
12.5 Haris Rauf to Mitchell Santner, FOUR! INTO THE FENCE AND TSK GET THEIR FIRST WIN. Pitched up on a fuller length across off, Santner carves it over the in-field on the off-side and gets a boundary
12.4 Haris Rauf to Milind Kumar, short of a length angling back, pulled to deep square leg for a single
12.3 Haris Rauf to Mitchell Santner, good length delivery outside leg-stump, Santner turns it down to deep square leg for a single
12.2 Haris Rauf to Milind Kumar, good length delivery on middle stump, Milind works it to mid-on and they scramble across to complete a run
