Well, then. It certainly wasn't a pink day to remember for South Africa. It's just their third defeat in 13 ODIs when they have adorned the pink. KL Rahul (India captain): Lost three ODIs here as captain last time around. Good to have a win under your belt. It's completely different to what we expected. The plan was to bring spinners into the game. We were expecting Axar and Kuldeep to get us wickets. The boys did really well to stay disciplined and hit the right areas. It's just how cricket's been, you need to rest some players, you prioritise one format at times. It's Test cricket and T20s for now. We believe in whoever is here, will do their best to their country. The players are doing well in First-Class and IPL, it's nice for them to get a chance at the international level.
Arshdeep Singh is the Player of the Match for his spectacular spell of 5/37. Here's what he has to say: I feel a little sore but loving the moment. I just want to thank God. I only came to know that after 3-4 overs when I was running out of breath and that it's a little different to normal grounds (the altitude). (On leading the attack) Personally it feels really good. It's always good to play for your country. When you start doing well you get responsibility as well. I want to thank Rahul bhai as well - he backed me and motivated me to get a five-fer. I want to thank my family as well. It's about just enjoying the moment right now. When we go to Gqeberha it's about seeing what works there as a team.
Aiden Markram (South Africa captain): Tough one. Winning the toss and batting first, we wanted a really good score. Credit to India, they took the attack to us. We weren't able to settle on that pitch and get partnerships. We expected it to go around a little bit. Generally here in the day games it does something in the first five-seven overs and it gets better to bat on. Today it just moved around a little bit longer and our boys found it tough. Credit to them again, they bowled brilliantly and we couldn't get anywhere close to a good score. It comes to the individual - we speak about the brand of cricket off the field but on the field it's down to your plan. We'll have to reflect on this and see how we could have put them under pressure and make things easier for us. (Given the option again, would you have still batted first?) Probably not mate (laughs).

Clinical victory for India. They have totally outclassed the hosts today. The spectacular display by their bowlers set the batters up for the chase of a below-par total, and they have done that while hardly breaking a sweat.
Sai Sudharsan, who was on his international debut, remained not out on 55 in the end. He had a close call early in the innings, but the decision by Markram not to review the appeal for lbw meant that he had a lucky break. There was no looking back from that point. He looked better and better as the innings progressed. The assured footwork and the way he played the ball late were definitely signs of a promising talent.
Sudharsan lost his opening partner early in the innings, but Shreyas Iyer joined him in the middle and just carried on from where he left off in the World Cup. The intent to go hard was clear right from the outset. There were a couple of nervous moments against the short ball, but he looked in total control once the spinners came into play. The duo 88 runs and more or less took India to the finish line.
The total was nowhere in the range what the South African bowlers would have hoped to defend. Quick wickets early on in the game was the only scenario that could have provided them any glimmer of hope. Burger and Mulder bowled with good pace in their opening spell, but there were too many boundary balls which meant that there was no pressure on the Indian batters at any point in time. The spinners too weren't on the top of their game when it came to consistency.
The game was really set up by the Indian pacers though. Arshdeep, with his maiden five-fer, and Avesh Khan, with a four-wicket haul ensured that the game was more or less in India's bag at the half-time.
16.4 Nandre Burger to Tilak Varma, THAT IS THAT - INDIA WRAP UP A RESOUNDING WIN! This has been one good old-fashioned hammering that they have handed the South Africans today. Dominance from start to finish by the visitors! Banged in short around middle and leg stump as it tucks Tilak up. He manages to fend it around the corner as it rolls away fine before the batters cross over. A total of 44.1 overs alone in the game as India rout South Africa by 8 wickets with more than 33 overs to spare!
