KL Rahul, Player of the Match: It was the grit and determination that allowed me to score the runs. The opening partnership played a huge role in the outcome of the match and I wanted us to get off to a good start. I haven't made many technical changes, however, the change in mindset has helped me do better. I am certainly proud of having six overseas centuries to my name. Delighted with the way Shami bowled. As Virat mentioned, that our fast bowlers have played a huge role in our success over the years, especially overseas. This victory will give us a lot of confidence and we shall look to carry it forward for the rest of the series.
Virat Kohli: We got off to the ideal start we desired. The fact that we got the outcome in four days demonstrates how well we performed. South Africa is usually a tough place to visit, but we were clinical with the bat, ball, and in the field. Mayank and KL deserve a lot of credit, and we were in pole position at 270 for 3 after day one. We had a lot of faith in our bowling unit to complete the task. In the locker room, we discussed it. Because Bumrah didn't bowl much in the first innings, South Africa were able to score more runs. It's simply a characteristic of our squad achieving a result from that position the way these guys bowl together. Really happy for Shami and his 200th scalp. He is among the top 3 seamers in the world and an integral part of our squad.
Dean Elgar: It's not a nice thing, losing at the fortress. We did a few things wrong and we ended up on the losing side. India played exceptionally well and they deserve full credit for the victory. Indian openers adapted really well and knew which balls to leave. We could have bowled a bit better and make the batters play more. We thought we were back in the game with that collapse but the Indian bowlers struck back. Our bowlers were brilliant, gave us 20 wickets. It was batting that separated the two sides and we need to sit down and think over our plans for the remaining two tests.
India win the test match comprehensively by 113 runs and go 1-0 up in the series. They started the year by breaching the fortress of Gabba and they end the year breaching Centurion. Virat Kohli's India becomes the first Asian side to win a test match at the Supersport Park, Centurion. The overseas victories have begun to look like a habit for this Indian side now.
India were dominating this test match from the very first session. They were in a strong position after the close of play on day one. KL Rahul's century put them in pole position of the test match. The second day was lost due to rain which added draw into play. A collapse early into day three denied them a big total. Lungi Ngidi was the star for the hosts as he bagged six Indian scalps. However, the Indian bowlers made sure that their batters had no regrets whatsoever in their minds. A five-wicket haul for Shami who also bagged his 200th scalp in South Africa's first innings. gave India the lead of 130 runs which was more than enough.
Indian batters set up a target of 304 on a very deteriorated surface for the hosts. Both Rabada and Marco Jansen took four wickets apiece to restrict India to 174. The only thing that stood between India and a historic victory was rain. Well, the rain gods did not disappoint as India conquered the fortress of South Africa despite skipper Dean Elgar's grit and determination. Temba Bavuma on the other hand, ran out of partners while the Indian bowlers kept removing the batters from the other end. Overall, it was a great performance by the Indian bowling unit as all the four frontline bowlers contributed with some vital wickets. Join us soon for the presentation...

67.6 R Ashwin to Lungi Ngidi, OUT! THAT WILL BE THAT! BAVUMA STRANDED! Flighted on a length just outside off stump. Ngidi is deceived in the air and has a poke at it in front of his pad. The ball grips, turns and bounces, meaning that he gets a thick inside edge that is snaffled up by leg slip! India breach another fortress in 2021 and they have been full value! South Africa might regret their bowling display in the first innings but then again, is it even a game of cricket if there isn't the benefit of hindsight attached to it! Lungi Ngidi, RHB, comes to the crease.
GONE! Change of field does the trick and Ashwin gets his first wicket of the match. India one wicket away!
67.5 R Ashwin to Kagiso Rabada, OUT! SOFT DISMISSAL! Tossed up on a length outside off stump and Rabada's eyes light up. He has a massive swish at it and gets a thick outside edge that loops up towards backward point, where the fielder does the rest and hands Ashwin his first wicket of the game! South Africa crumbling now!
