Dasun Shanaka (Captain, Sri Lanka) - I knew it was going to be a record chasing this down and it is an amazing performance from the youngsters as they delivered. There was a lot of dew which helped the ball to come nicely on the bat as it made a huge difference to the game. It was a good chance for the team to get a series win in the game. We have two fast bowling all rounders and I feel its a good combination in the game and lastly I want to thank the crowd who have come in such high spirits to support us.
Aaron Finch (Captain, Australia) - There is a lot of dew but credit to Sri Lanka and it was an amazing innings and a crucial partnership between the batters. The ball was turning quite a bit and we went with the bowling combination we thought was best. When there are 4 fielders out there it can be hard to contain the field.
Pathum Nissanka, Player of the Match: I am extremely pleased with the way I batted. It was a great challenge to bat under these conditions and battle the heat in first half. The surface was slow but I enjoyed batting here.
Sri Lanka ( Pathum Nissanka - 137 off 147, Jhye Richardson - 2/39 in 9 overs) beat Australia ( Aaron Finch 62 off 85, Jeffery Vandersay - 3/49 off 10 overs) by 6 wickets.
Sri Lanka making the Sunday complete for the fans who have come to support their side in big numbers and the batters have surely scored the runs in big numbers as the top order have outplayed the Australian bowling attack to make a solid comeback in the series. The batters had an answer for every ball that Australia had bowled to them and the slow outfield did not stop the ball from reaching the boundary rope from time to time.
The match started off with the openers setting an amazing foundation for Sri Lanka as the bowlers started off bowling some good deliveries outside off but that was a party that would be short lived for Australia as the batters went on an absolute rampage and even though Dickwella was dismissed early on by Maxwell. It was Kusal Mendis and Nissanka who scored the highest partnership of the entire series as Nissanka becomes the 5th Sri Lankan to score a century against Australia in a run chase. Kusal Mendis had to walk out due to an injury after playing a splendid knock of 87 off 85.
The fast bowlers got some important wickets as they got the game pretty close as you can never underestimate the Aussies and they fought with all their heart but it was Asalanka who sealed the victory for them as they got their highest chase on this ground. Sri Lanka have got some hope in this series as they have got the runs on the board. Australia will go back into the nets and comeback strong as they still have a chance to seal the series.
