MELBOURNE STARS TRIUMPH OVER THE SYDNEY SIXER AND WIN BY 4 WICKETS!
James Vince 83(55) | Usama Mir (4-0-19-3) Hilton Cartwright 47(30) | Sean Abbott (4-0-32-2)
Not every day do you see a match as riveting and enthralling as this one! James Vince got the sixers off to a superb start and took the bowlers down, after the 11th over asserting his dominance, and very similarly another stalwart from the Stars, found bakc his mojo in the middle overs: Hilton Cartwright.
Cartwright, played one of the famous innings', if you could say now, with some extravagant shots through the off side and even timed the ball wonderful through the leg side.
Sean Abbott was the pick of the bowlers, despite his inconsistency with his lines and lengths, used his experience and guile to toy with the batters!
The better team had to win today, and it was none other than the stars. THE MELBOURNE STARS!!
Overall, it was an amazing game of cricket, permeated by it's topsy-turvyness as always, and the Stars secured their first victory in this edition of the BBL!
19.3 Ben Dwarshuis to Hilton Cartwright, FOUR MORE! Cartwright has done it! The Stars have done it! They have their first win against the only team who had won all their games so far. It's a short ball on the body, very slow, Cartwright waits for it and swivels the pull in the air over deep square leg! He's elated and so are his teammates. What a win for the Stars.
19.2 Ben Dwarshuis to Hilton Cartwright, FOUR! Low full toss outside the off-stump, Cartwright moves off-side and slices it to get it off the middle to send it to deep point
19.1 Ben Dwarshuis to Hilton Cartwright, full toss outside the off-stump, Cartwright looks to swing it back down the ground but misses!
Imad Wasim played an astounding cameo and departs, in a over permeated by poor field sets by, hobbling captain Moises Henriques. Don't see a reason why, mid off and mid onn should stay half-way from the boundary line to try and stop that double and convert it into a single. Abbott executing some remarkable slower ones and is preventing the batter from getting under the ball, by hitting that hard length. Commendable fielding by Edwards, who absolutely flew on the boundary line!! Expecting some uncanny cutter and slower ones in the last over, into the surface....IS IT GOING TO BE THE SIXERS OR IS IT GOING TO BE THE STARS?
