Two tests and three T20s are done and dusted now. It's all West Indies at the moment in the completed series, and the question is, do Bangladesh have the belief in the dressing room after whatever has transpired so far in this tour? I say no. They look disheartened at the moment, but they have to erase the bad stuff from their mind and regroup themselves for the three-match ODI series.
There were times in the past when the odds are against them, Bangladesh completely turn up as a different side and prove everyone wrong in the ODI format. Let's hope they recover well and put up a good fight in Guyana on Sunday. Now, it's time to end the coverage and until next time, this is Pragadeesh and Pradeep waving goodbye and goodnight
Nicholas Pooran: Definitely, I love Guyana and it's good that I performed well in front of the crowd. We wanted to bat first and get some batting practice. We spoke about a positive intent, Kyle batted well and he's growing in confidence and happy to know that he brought up his first T20 half-century. I told my players to trust me and told them that, I stay in the present and think ahead of the game. The pitch was under covers and if it was ideal for someone, it's Kyle Mayers. Odean Smith could've put us ahead in the game if he had batted well. If the results are gonna be like this, then I am looking forward to the upcoming series against India and New Zealand.
Nicholas Pooran is adjudged as the Player of the Series as well
Mahmudullah (Captain, Bangladesh): I think we had our moments, Pooran's run-out opportunity was crucial but Mayers and Pooran took the game away from us. Up front we bowled well, we took three wickets and that partnership proved to be tough for us. I just asked the bowlers to bowling the right areas, there are lot of places on the surface that we can extract purchase out of it, stick to the strengths and bowl in the right areas. Was happy with the total, we wanted to get to 170 odd but Litton batted really well but in the bowling department, we had our chances. I think there are few positives we take into the next couple of tournaments, it's batting and I think the bowling that we need to work out and take those chances.
Nicholas Pooran has been adjudged the Player of the Match for his blistering innings that sealed the game for West Indies!
West Indies beat Bangladesh by 5 wickets
Afif Hossain 50(38) | Litton Das 49(41) | Hayden Walsh 2-25(4) Nicholas Pooran 74(38) | Kyle Mayers 55(38) | Nasum Ahmed 2-44(4)
This is West Indies at their brutal best. Two quick wickets might gave Bangladesh a chance in this encounter but Pooran and Mayers took the attack to the opposition and entertained the crowd with massive hits in the middle period. The spinners started the proceedings and Mahmudullah didn't opt for pace until the 7th over. It was a slow start for both the Southpaws as they took their time in the middle until they found a groove.
Pooran was playing a second-fiddle when Mayers was bludgeoning the bowlers. but once the pacers came in, Pooran didn't allow them to settle down, smashing boundaries and sixes in every over. Mayers brought up his first half-century in T20s with a stunning hit but Nasum Ahmed ended his magnificent knock in the middle. Once Mayes got dismissed, Pooran took on the bowlers, and in the end, the West Indies skipper finished things in style
What a hit to finish things off. West Indies win the match in an emphatic fashion and seal the series 2-0. Handshakes all around and smiles all around for the men in maroon
18.2 Mahmudullah to Nicholas Pooran, SIX! BOOM! FINISHES THINGS IN STYLE! Pooran holds his pose. Bangladesh have been blown away by Pooran's blitz here and seal the T20i series too! Length delivery on the middle and off, tossed it up as Pooran shimmies down the track and PUMMELS it straight down the ground for a maximum.
18.1 Mahmudullah to Akeal Hosein, OH! Length delivery on the off-stump, Hosein on the backfoot goes to play but that turns away to take the outside edge down to third-man for just a single. SCORES ARE LEVEL NOW!
