Obed Christopher McCoy, born on January 4, 1997, is a Vincentian professional cricketer who represents the West Indies in the international format. In October 2018, he debuted internationally for the West Indies. Obed McCoy is a Windward Islands-born left-arm fast bowler whose adept speed variations make him an ideal T20 player.
Less than a year after making his debut in all three forms in the domestic scene in 2017, he was representing the West Indies in an ODI against India.

Obed Mccoy Career
Obed Christopher McCoy is a professional cricketer from Vincentia who represents the West Indies national team. He made his international debut for the West Indies in October 2018. Obed McCoy is a left-arm fast bowler who is a T20 specialist with his skillset of speed variations and pace. In 2017, he made his domestic cricket debut in all three forms. Less than a year later, he appeared in an ODI against India for the West Indies. In T20Is, McCoy is a regular player for the West Indies and played for them in the T20 World Cups in 2021, 2022, and 2024. McCoy played for teams in T20 franchise competitions in the Caribbean, South Africa, India, Bangladesh, USA, and Pakistan.
Obed Mccoy Domestic Career
On January 25, 2017, he made his List A debut for the West Indies Under-19s in the 2016–17 Regional Super50. He was included in the West Indies squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup before making his List A debut.
On August 4, 2017, he made his Twenty20 debut for the St Lucia Stars in the 2017 Caribbean Premier League. At the 2017–18 Regional Four-Day Competition, he made his first-class debut for the Windward Islands.
He was included in the Cricket West Indies B Team squad for the first-ever Global T20 Canada tournament in June 2018. With eleven wickets in seven matches, he was the Cricket West Indies B Team's top wicket-taker in the league. He was added to the St Lucia Zouks squad in July 2020 in preparation for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League.
He signed a contract with Multan Sultans in April 2021 to play in the Pakistan Super League in 2021. He was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals in February 2022 at the Indian Premier League 2022 auction. In June 2022, McCoy recorded his maiden five-wicket haul in Twenty20 cricket against Somerset in his debut outing for Sussex.
Obed Mccoy IPL Career
Prior to the 2022 IPL, the Rajasthan Royals acquired him for INR 75 lakhs. He had a successful season, with Obed coming through in key moments with his wickets and bowling to lead his team to the finals. In just seven games, he picked up 11 wickets and finished off his first IPL season. In IPL 2022, the West Indies bowler made headlines in a unique way. Following his IPL debut and victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the decisive over, he celebrated Indian cinema by pulling out the 'Pushpa' celebration from the well-known Allu Arjun film. His celebration and antics gained widespread attention on social media.
Obed was retained by the Rajasthan Royals for the 2023 IPL season for the same amount. He played just a single match for the Royals in the season. In his eight IPL games so far, Obed Mccoy has claimed 11 wickets at an average of 22.73 and his best individual figure is 3/23.
Obed Mccoy International Career
He made it in the West Indies One Day International (ODI) team for their series against India in October 2018. On October 24, 2018, he played his debut ODI for the West Indies against India. He was included in the West Indies Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the series against England in March 2019. On March 8, 2019, he made his West Indies T20I debut against England.
Although his career in 50-over cricket went nowhere, McCoy was a solid performer for the West Indies in Twenty20 Internationals and played for them in the T20 World Cups in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

He was included in the West Indies One Day International (ODI) team for their series against India in October 2018. On the 24th of October 2018, he played his first-ever ODI for the West Indies against India.

In the T20I format, these are also the greatest bowling figures for any team against India. Ironically just two games later, McCoy posted numbers of 2-66, which was the most expensive bowling figures for a West Indies player in the T20I format.
Although his career in 50-over cricket did not take off, McCoy was a consistently strong performer for the West Indies in Twenty20 Internationals and played for them in the T20 World Cups in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

McCoy was a part of the West Indies under-19 team that won the World Cup in 2016, however, he did not participate in any games during the tournament. But it wasn't until the first-ever Global T20 in 2018 that he emerged as West Indies B's top wicket-taker and was subsequently signed to a CPL deal by the St. Lucia Stars.
The national selectors recognized McCoy's abilities after his triumph in T20 cricket and selected him for the ODI series against India in 2018. At Vizag, he made his ODI debut, taking two wickets, his first wicket being MS Dhoni. The southpaw made his T20I debut a year later against England in 2019.
