Nick Bosa: A Brief Biography
Nick Bosa is a defensive end who plays for the San Francisco 49ers. He became the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2019 after being drafted by the 49ers. He is one of the best young players in the league currently and has already played a Super Bowl in his rookie season. He is the son of former NFL defensive end John Bosa and the younger brother of Joey, currently a linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Nick Bosa’s Early Life and Background
Nick Bosa is the son of former NFL player John Bosa, who used to play for the Miami Dolphins. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and attended St. Thomas Aquinas in Lauderdale along with his brother Joey Bosa. He was a multi-year first-team state player and played football as a starter in all of his four school seasons.
He committed to Ohio State University as a five-star recruit. He played all 13 games in his freshman year and registered 29 tackles and 5 sacks. He became a starter for Ohio Buckeyes in his sophomore year. He underwent core-muscle surgery in his junior year and sat out the season. He foregoes his senior year at Ohio State to enter the 2019 NFL Draft. Bosa was named a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten and the Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year, in 2017 for his 32 total tackles (14.5 for a loss) and a team-leading 7 sacks.

Nick Bosa’s NFL Journey
Bosa signed a four-year deal with the 49ers worth $33.5 million along with a signing bonus of $22.5 million. He made his debut in the NFL in the Week 1 game against the Buccaneers. He was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month in October for his stellar performances. Bosa finished his regular season as a rookie with 47 tackles, 9 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception in 16 games. The 49ers made it to the Super Bowl that season and Bosa even featured in the playoff games. He sacked Aaron Rodgers in the NFC Championship game. The 49ers lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, where Bosa recorded a strip-sack on Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
He could not play in the 2020 season due to a torn ACL. Nick Bosa made his return in Week 1 of the 2021 season. He finished the season with 15.5 sacks, 40 solo tackles, and 21 tackles for loss. The 49ers reached the NFC Championships but lost to the eventual Super Bowl winners, L.A. Rams.

On July 25, 2019, Bosa signed a 4-year deal with the 49ers worth $33.5 million featuring a $22.5 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option. During Week 5, Bosa sacked Baker Mayfield twice, resulting in a fumble, earning him NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Nick followed it up with three sacks on Kyle Allen and recorded his first career interception the next week, earning another NFC Defensive Player of the Week while his brother Joey earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week. He was announced as the NFL Defensive Player of the Month in October the very next day. Bosa finished his rookie year with 47 tackles, nine sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, two pass deflections, and an interception. At the NFL Honors, Bosa won the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award, which his father accepted on his behalf due to Bosa being at the Super Bowl in Miami. Bosa missed almost all of the 2020 season with a torn ACL in week 2.
