View AllJared Goff: A Brief Biography
Jared Goff is a quarterback in the NFL who currently plays as QB1 for the Detroit Lions franchise. His full name Jared Thomas Goff by birth and he was born on October 14, 1994 in the city of Novato California approximately 30 miles north of San Francisco. Goff is a member of the 2016 NFL Draft in which he was the number one overall pick selected by the Los Angeles Rams.
Playing with the Rams for a period of five years from 2016 till 2020, Goff’s career highlight came in the 2018 season when he led the team to an appearance in Super Bowl LIII only to lose to the iconic Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
Goff’s rookie season was a very rocky one where he went 0-7 in the seven times he was handed the starting role. Prior to that he served as the backup to Case Keenum for the initial nine weeks. The next two seasons were the best of his Rams career making the playoffs and finishing as the top seeds in the NFC West. However, inconsistent performances in the following two seasons followed by postseason exits eventually resulted in Goff being traded to the Lions in 2021.
Jared Goff Early Life
As a native of Novato and the closest NFL team being the San Francisco 49ers, Goff was a die-hard fan of the team and grew up idolizing the former great Joe Montana. In fact, his admiration of Montana is evident from the fact that Goff wears the number 16 jersey as a tribute to the Hall of Fame quarterback.
Goff was already playing quarterback in high school. He attended Marin Catholic High School nearby his hometown where he had a successful three-year stint. He threw for over 7,000 yards and had 93 touchdowns while only giving away 18 interceptions.
By the time his high school was over, Goff had multiple options to consider from, out of which he decided to attend the University of California, Berkeley to continue his football career. With the numbers he put up during his three years at Berkeley, Goff was a standout candidate and the number one pick on many analysts and scouts’ minds. He set 26 school records including the 12,220 passing yards, 96 touchdown passes, and 329.7 passing yards per game just to name a few.
Unfortunately for Goff though, no matter how amazing his own numbers were, the team's overall success was quite disappointing as they had only one winning season. Upon completing his junior year of college, the former Rams quarterback decided to enter the 2016 NFL Draft.
Jared Goff Family Background
Jared Goff comes from a good family background, and his family has been a huge support for him since his early days. Goff was born to parents Jerry Goff and Nancy Goff who have both been the steady rock which he has required to make his football journey come to fruition.
Jared is known to have an older sister named Lauren with whom he shares a tight bond. Goff can be seen sharing important occasions on his social media handles with his sister such as when she got married in 2017 to Mason Butts. Needless to say she has been another member of the family extending her support to her brother in times of need.
Jared Goff Father
Sports has an important place in the Goff family as his father Jerry was a former professional baseball player who played as a catcher in the MLB for around six years. Jerry was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 1986 but struggled to make his way into the starting lineup and spent most of his time with the team’s minor league.
By 1990, he got the chance to play for the Montreal Expos with whom he spent a couple of years before going on to play for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros for two years respectively. All in all, Goff Sr. did not have a particularly good career in baseball, but that is something Jared has already surpassed with his first seven years in the NFL. And to this, his father has nothing but pride as he once stated that his son is a lot better than he could have ever imagined.
Jared Goff Mother
As for his mother Nancy, she and her son Jared share a very close bond. As per sources, Nancy is a mortgage advisor working for Flagstar Bank but this could not be confirmed. For her though, having a kind and caring son like Jared is still more important than anything he could ever achieve on the football field.
While talking about their son’s calm personality, the parents said that it came from being the son of a professional athlete as well as the personality of Nancy. According to his mother, she has the ability to remain unfazed in most situations and that may have passed on to her son even when the going gets quite tough.
Jared Goff Fiancé
Jared Goff and his fiancé, Christen Harper met in an extraordinary way, especially in the case of celebrities. The beautiful couple got acquainted on a dating site called Raya which is a private app for dating and which requires a membership to access. This app as it so happens is used quite frequently by celebrities.
Harper is a model and actress by profession. Growing up in Valencia, California, she was born to Michael and Daria Harper. Harper took to modeling in her early days to help her pay for college while her acting career started when she was a child, but her claim to fame was her selection for Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Model.
Harper has also been very supportive of Goff and his career as a football player. A particularly tough decision cropped up when the 28-year-old got traded to Detroit which meant that Harper would have to adjust her life around his as her career was completely based in Los Angeles. However, she is happy to have worked things out and is managing her professional and personal life quite well. Although it is not clear what she is doing at the moment, she has branched out into a different career and is happy to have a change in her life.
Last year in June 2022, Goff and Harper got engaged during the NFL off-season. As per reports, the couple were on vacation in Los Cabos, Mexico with friends when Goff proposed to her and officially took the first step towards life together. As for their wedding, there has been no mention of the exact date, but with the 2023 season starting now it seems the wedding will take place during the offseason.

Goff’s journey in the NFL which began with the Rams is now in his eighth season. Throughout his seven seasons in the league, Goff has had some high points as well as some low points. Jared Goff Teams
Los Angeles Rams (2016-2020)
Goff’s life towards stardom started in the grandest city of the West Coast with the Los Angeles Rams. Being the number one overall pick of the franchise meant that a lot was expected of him and it also meant that he was selected by a struggling outfit.
His career got off to a horrible start in his rookie year but Goff and the organization quickly turned things around in years two and three. While they were expected to go far after they reached the Super Bowl in the 2018 season, that is not what happened and the next couple of years were nothing to talk about.
Detroit Lions (2021- present)
After Goff finished five years in Los Angeles, he was surprisingly traded to the Detroit Lions prior to the 2021 NFL season. In a move that meant more trouble for Goff, he again got off to a troubled start and it took nearly one and a half seasons for the Lions to get going. However, the second half of the 2022 season saw a lot of improvement and Goff has now got a base in place to work with.

Jared Goff is no exception to this. As per various sources on the net, Goff has partnered with big name brands such as Nike, BMW, Bose, Pizza Hut, Red Bull, Banana Republic and many more.
About his brand endorsement with Banana Republic, Goff stated that he was ‘honored and excited’, while the company’s Chief Marketing Officer Mary Alderete was thrilled to get him on board citing that the Lions star had become a fan of their men’s clothing and thus it just made sense to get him onboard as their brand ambassador.

Jared Goff Diet
Following a particular diet plan is very important for any individual, but if the individual in question is a professional athlete, then a lot more emphasis is placed on his diet. As for Goff, he was at the receiving end of some criticism when he first entered the league due to his leaner-than-average physique. As a matter of fact, Goff was around 205 pounds which was approximately 10-5 pounds less than the average at his position.
But the California native had to come up with a different diet plan to bulk up his physique since he was diagnosed with an enzyme deficiency due to which his body is unable to break down proteins. As per his fitness coach, Ryan Flaherty, Goff had to gain more strength by eating chicken, turkey, and fish as opposed to red meat. Since his rookie year, Goff has managed to put on nearly 12 pounds and his strength has also shot up automatically.
