Early career & ROH (2018-2022)

Gonzalez made her pro wrestling debut in December 2018 under the ring name Rok-C; Rok is from The Rock, and the C stands for her name, Carla. She made her debut in Booker T's Reality of Wrestling. Throughout her early years, Rok-C made a name for herself across various Texas promotions, particularly in ROW, where she captured the prestigious women's title and the ROW Diamonds Division Championship.

In April 2021, Rok-C stepped into the ring for the first time under the banner of Ring of Honor, joining forces with Max the Impaler in a time-limited draw against Laynie Luck and Hyan. She entered the ROH Women's World Championship tournament, where she competed against seasoned veterans like Sumie Sakai, Quinn McKay, and Angelina Love. In the tournament final at Death Before Dishonor XVIII, she defeated Miranda Alize and became the inaugural ROH Women's World Champion at the remarkable age of 19. She also became the youngest champion in the company's history.

Rok-C's reign began with a successful title defense against Gia Scott on the November 26th episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling. At Final Battle, Rok-C faced Willow Nightingale but managed to retain her title in what would be ROH's final pay-per-view event before a temporary hiatus. Post-match, Rok-C was challenged by the renowned Deonna Purrazzo, who held both the Impact Knockouts Championship and the AAA Reina de Reinas title. This set the stage for a monumental clash on January 13th's episode of Impact Wrestling, where Rok-C faced Purrazzo in a winner-take-all match. Rok-C lost to Purrazzo and relinquished the ROH Women's World Championship, with the AAA title also hanging in the balance.

In March 2022, Perez embarked on a new chapter in her wrestling career by signing with WWE's developmental brand, NXT. She adopted the new ring name Roxanne Perez and made her debut on the April 15th episode of NXT Level Up with a victory over Sloane Jacobs. Four days later, she made her debut on the main NXT stage, securing a win over Jacy Jayne. In May and June, Perez participated in the prestigious 2022 NXT Women's Breakout Tournament. She emerged victorious in the tournament, defeating Tiffany Stratton in the finals and earning a coveted contract for a championship opportunity of her choice.

At The Great American Bash, Perez joined forces with Cora Jade to dethrone Toxic Attraction (comprised of Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) and become NXT Women's Tag Team Champions. However, their alliance proved short-lived. The next week, Perez cashed in her guaranteed title shot on Mandy Rose for the NXT Women's Championship in a title match, but Jade turned on her and cost Perez her championship opportunity. In the following episode, Jade threw her championship belt in the garbage; as a result, WWE then recognized Perez as continuing to hold the titles by herself. The following week, Perez relinquished the titles to Alundra Blayze to determine the new NXT Women's Tag Team Champions in the future.

This led to a match between Jade and Perez on August 16 at Heatwave, where Jade was victorious, after distracting Perez during the match. On the October 4 episode of NXT, a Weapons Wild match was set between Jade and Perez on Halloween Havoc. The two also agreed on pick-your-poison matches, where both could choose any opponent in WWE for each other.

Perez made her first main roster appearance on the October 14 episode of SmackDown, where she picked Raquel González as Jade's opponent. The two would later team with Shotzi in a losing effort against Damage CTRL (Bayley and the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky). On the October 18 episode of NXT, Perez lost to Rhea Ripley, who Jade chose to face against Perez in the pick-your-poison match. Four days later, at Halloween Havoc, Perez defeated Jade in a Weapons Wild match. At Deadline, Perez won the inaugural Women's Iron Survivor Challenge. Just three days later, she defeated Mandy Rose to win the NXT Women's Championship.

In January 2023, Roxanne Perez entered her first Royal Rumble match. Entering as the eighth participant, she lasted only over four minutes before losing to the combined might of Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky). At Vengeance Day, she defended her NXT Women's Championship against Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne in a triple-threat match. At Roadblock, she successfully defended the title against the veteran Meiko Satomura but collapsed and was stretchered out after the match. After making a triumphant return to NXT on March 28th, Perez confirmed her intentions to defend her championship at Stand & Deliver.

She lost the title to Indi Hartwell in a ladder match that also involved Dolin, Zoey Stark, Tiffany Stratton, and Lyra Valkyria, ending her reign at 109 days. She defeated Zoey Stark on the April 18th episode of NXT. This victory earned her a match from Indi Hartwell, but the intervention of Tiffany Stratton transformed the title match into a triple-threat showdown at Spring Breakin'. Perez ultimately fell short in her attempt to reclaim the championship. Following the title's subsequent vacancy, Perez was confirmed as one of eight participants in the NXT Women's Championship Tournament at Battleground.

In the tournament, Perez secured a hard-fought victory over Jacy Jayne in the first round but was eliminated by the eventual winner, Tiffany Stratton, in the semifinals. She then feuded against Blair Davenport, culminating in a Weapons Wild match at The Great American Bash, where Perez emerged victorious. On Night 1 of Halloween Havoc, Perez continued her winning streak, defeating Kiana James in a chaotic Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal: Devil's Playground match. Perez was beaten by Kiana James at NXT Deadline in a steel cage match. She participated in a battle royal to win a chance to face Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women's Title, which she lost.

She retained her title against Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley at Spring Breakin', Jordynne Grace at Battleground, Vice at Heatwave, Thea Hail at The Great American Bash, and Jaida Parker at No Mercy. After No Mercy, Perez was confronted by debuting Giulia, whom she defeated on NXT’s CW premiere on October 1 following interference from Cora Jade.
