He achieved his career-high singles ranking of No. 10 in September 2020, becoming the third highest-ranked Canadian male player in history behind Milos Raonic and Félix Auger-Aliassime. He has won two ATP singles titles in his career so far, which came at the Stockholm Open in 2019 and Belgrade Open in 2024.

Denis Shapovalov reached the semifinal of the Wimbledon in 2021, which is his best performance in Grand Slam singles so far. He also made the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and US Open. As a junior, he won two Grand Slam titles.
