Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal put out a historic performance at the 2024 Australian Open. He knocked out No. 31 seed Alexander Bublik 6-4, 6-2, 7-6(5) in the opening round of the Australian Open, becoming the first Indian player in 35 years to beat a seeded player at any Grand Slam since Ramesh Krishnan in 1989. It is his second grand slam main draw win, he won his first grand slam match at the US Open in 2020 against American Bradley Klahn.
He won the 2015 Wimbledon boys' doubles title with his partner Lý Hoàng Nam, becoming only the sixth Indian player to win a junior Grand Slam title.
