About ENG vs NZ

New Zealand will host the Ben Stokes-led England Test team for a two-match series, starting February 16, 2023.

The 1st Test will take place at the picturesque Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui between February 16-20, and it will be a day-night affair.

The 2nd and final match will be a traditional day game and it will be hosted (February 24-28) by the iconic Basin Reserve in Wellington.

England have enjoyed considerable success against the BlackCaps on New Zealand soil by winning 18 Tests out of 51, losing just 6.

But, none of those 18 wins have come since 2008, when the visitors thumped the Daniel Vettori-led New Zealand by 2-0. The 2013 series ended at a 0-0 deadlock while New Zealand came out trumps by 1-0 in 2018 and 2019.

This will be a great opportunity for England to claim their first series win in New Zealand since 2008, and also build on the good work that the Stokes-McCullum leadership group has done thus far.

For New Zealand, it will be a chance to avenge the 0-3 drubbing that Kane Williamson's men suffered in the UK last summer, and to also end their barren run since winning the WTC final in 2021.

The current Test champions failed to win a series at home last summer, notably losing a match to Bangladesh. They are yet to win a Test series since the 2021/22 summer, and this series gives them a chance to start afresh.

This two-match series is not a part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle (2021-23).
