Cameron Young is an American professional golfer born on May 7, 1997. Young turned professional in 2019 and joined the Korn Ferry Tour in 2020, winning the 2021 AdventHealth Championship and the 2021 Evans Scholars Invitational. The following year, he joined the PGA Tour, but as of February 2025, he hasn't won a PGA event. He reached his career-high Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) of No. 13 in April 2023 and is ranked No. 46 (as of Feb 2025).

In his rookie season on the PGA Tour, in 2022, Young earned his best major finishes, tying for third place at the PGA Championship and being the solo runner-up at the Open Championship. Before turning professional, Young went to Fordham Preparatory School and played college golf at Wake Forest University, where he won seven amateur titles between 2015 and 2019. He also won two professional events as an amateur in 2017 (Lenox Advisors New York State Open) and 2018 (Westchester Open).

Cameron Young's parents

Cameron Young was born to David and Barbara Young in Scarborough, New York, according to the PGA of America.

Who is Cameron Young's father?

Cameron Young’s father, David Young, works as the head golf pro at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, New York. He was also Cameron's first golf coach. Talking about his coach-father role, David said to the PGA of America:

“If he plays well, there is not much to talk about. If he plays okay, we may chat about a few things. If he does not play how he wants to, that’s when I just let him vent for a while."

Though David is used to watching his son play on television, in 2022, when the PGA Championship took place at Sleepy Hollow, he got to see his son on the greens. Talking about this, he said to the PGA of America:

"Now, I’ll be able to watch in person and see everything that’s going on. I get to see his swing and his game, not just the result.”

Cameron eventually finished tied for third place in the event. On being asked, "How proud is he feeling?" David said:

“You know, that’s what everyone is asking me, how proud I am. I really don’t know how to answer that. I’m not a man with the right words, I guess. I’m not a writer. I’m much more of a numbers guy, a math guy. So maybe 12 out of 10?”

Who is Cameron Young's mother?

Barbara Young, Cameron's mother, used to caddie for her son when he participated in the Met Area events, according to the New York Post. Speaking about his wife, David discussed the status of their son's golf career with the PGA of America, saying, "She has a better view of the big picture, which is bright; I tend to live a little more shot by shot. I’m learning."
