Pitch Report
It has a good carry with good bounce. The pitch is hard, there's a bit of grass covering as well. If I'm winning the toss, I'll be bowling first as there hasn't been much from the previous games. It's a good wicket still.

That's all that we have for you from this contest. There's more T20 World Cup action coming up shortly - England take on Oman at Antigua in a few minutes. Click here to enjoy our coverage of the game! This is Rajarshi Das, signing off on behalf of Pradeep Somasekhar for now. See you in a bit!
The conditions at St. Vincent were absolutely ideal for Bangladesh's brand of cricket. The wicket was perfect for accumulation in the middle overs - Shakib Al Hasan, the biggest name among their ranks, rose to the occasion and performed that job to perfection. The wicket had a lot to offer for their hit-the-deck bowlers, it also had ample grip for off-pace deliveries and spinners. The Bangladesh bowlers rose to the occasion in a big way, and they get their campaign back on track. A win against Nepal on Monday will confirm a spot in the Super 8 for them.
Yet another case of a good fight to no avail for the Netherlands. They started off slow - Michael Leviit tried to force the runs but just wasn't up to the task. Max O'Dowd was a let-down again - Vikramjit looked dangerous during his stay in the middle but a rush of blood did for him. The Netherlands, though, were well in the hunt as long as they had Sybrand Engelbrecht and Scott Edwards, but once that partnership was broken, the Dutch were done for. Monday sure will be a decisive day for them in terms of their 2024 Men's T20 World Cup campaign - they need to win big against Sri Lanka and hope for a Bangladesh defeat.
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh captain): The boys showed lot of character, this was an important match for us, everyone was calm on the field. Very happy. (On Shakib's innings) His calmness, he's been struggling the last couple of innings, he showed his skill today. Very happy for him. We didn't know how the conditions would behave and what we could defend. Hard for the batters, but they did a great job, so did the bowlers. Very good outfield, the pitch looks good too barring a couple of uneven bounce with the new ball. Really good wicket to bat on. Mustafizur, we all know how capable he is, he showed his experience and skills. Rishad bowled the last over really well under pressure as well. Really happy the way the bowlers delivered today.
Scott Edwards (Netherlands captain): I think probably in all three facets of the game, credit to Bangladesh who were very good and we weren't a match at all. They always kept wickets in hand, bowling to windy boundary was always tough. We didn't execute our plans and allowed them to get to 160 which is 10 or 15 more than what we would've thought. I think so, we knew they got some quality bowlers at the death, we were trying to get those runs through the middle, but we lost two crucial wickets at critical juncture which halted our momentum. Aryan has been sensational for us in the few years, especially in these sort of conditions, he was amazing. He's been our one of our best T20 bowlers, these conditions were perfect for him. It's a little bit out of our hands now, playing good cricket against Sri Lanka is what we should focus on.
Shakib Al Hasan is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: It was important for someone from the top four to bat throughout the innings, happy to contribute, wasn't easy wicket to bat at the start, held our nerves to put up that total. It wasn't a winning total, but a challenging total but the bowlers came to the party. Rishad and Fizz took the away from Netherlands. (About the wicket) Hardly any international games played in the four or five years. We didn't know what's the good score, and hence we needed to keep wickets in hand up and until 14 or 15th over and go from there. 1560 in a World Cup game is always tricky and it proved the same. They had their moments, at the 12th over, they were 90 odd for 3, 10 runs per over on this track it wasn't easy to restrict them but credit to bowlers to hold on to their nerve.
Match summary:
Bangladesh win by 25 runs
Shakib Al Hasan 64*(46) | Rishad Hossain 3/33 (4) Sybrand Engelbrecht 33 (22) | Paul van Meekeren 2/15 (4)
The start to the run-chase was far from ideal for the Netherlands. Michael Levitt did find the odd boundary every now and then, but the Bangladesh pacers hit the deck really hard on most occasions, rushed the batters for pace, and that was how they accounted for both openers. Max O'Dowd, having struggled in the initial part of his innings, hit a couple of really good shots on the up, but perished to a really nice reflex return catch from Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
Vikramjit Singh had his sighters against Shakib Al Hasan after the powerplay, and then proceeded to slog him over the leg side boundary on successive occasions. That helped the Netherlands gather some momentum going into the middle overs. Rishad Hossain went for 14 in his first over - the 9th of the innings as the Netherlands began imposing themselves in the game.
Mahmudullah, having been brought on to counter-attack the left-handed threat of Vikramjit, did his job perfectly, he enticed the left-hander into running down the wicket, did him in flight and dip, and left him stranded. Engelbrecht looked to push along - he and Edwards ran really hard between the wickets to keep the score ticking along nicely to go with the occasional boundary every now and then. The pull off Taskin Ahmed that saw Engelbrecht clear the ground sure served as a momentum-shifter at the time.
Rishad Hossain proceeded to be the game-changer for Bangladesh. Having been brought on to bowl the 15th over, Rishad, having conceded a boundary second ball, did Engelbrecht in the air, got him to spoon a catch, and then beat Bas de Leede with turn and flight as well and had him stumped. The Netherlands began losing their way after that, and once Mustafizur Rahman did for Scott Edwards and went for just one in the 17th over, the writing was on the wall.
Logan van Beek, the last of the Netherlands' batters, perished trying to hit Rishad against the spin first ball of the next over. Mustafizur effectively closed the game out in the penultimate over of the chase, and with this win, Bangladesh have given themselves a great chance of clinching a berth in the Super 8s. Presentations coming up in a bit...
Taskin sure does finish with a bang! Leg-stump's out the ground - Bangladesh seal this one by 25 runs and make significant progress towards the Super 8!

19.6 Taskin Ahmed to Tim Pringle, OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! BANGLADESH WIN! A wicket to seal the game for Bangladesh, they keep their Super Eight hopes alive with this win. Slower one, back of a length and angled in on the stumps. Pringle's been put of misery finally as he swings and misses, rattles the leg-stump.

19.5 Taskin Ahmed to Aryan Dutt, too full on the stumps. Dutt drilled it straight to mid-on and takes off immediately. Fielder runs in, but just couldn't collect the ball at all.
