With that convincing victory, Bangladesh have now put themselves in a position where they would have their destiny in their own hands. They would go into the match against Malaysia as favourites and would be expected to replicate this kind of performance. Thailand, on the other hand, would need to punch above their weights in the last game against Sri Lanka or hope that Malaysia does that in front of Bangladesh. Though, if there is one thing that cricket has taught us over the years, it is that there are no certainties. Whatever happens, we would be there to call the action.

Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh Captain): The way we bowled today was brilliant. We lost a game just a day back. But we were able to execute our plans in the middle and played well today. Murshida is a good player. She has been doing this for the team for a while. I am very happy for her. My fingers are hurting but they would be alright before the next game. I will certainly sleep better tonight.

Rabeya Khan (4/14, Player of the Match): Thanks to the almighty. I have been doing a job for the team, so I am happy. The wicket that made me the most happy was the second wicket. I was trying to bowl up and wicket to wicket.

Thipatcha Putthawong (Thailand Captain): We are here with a very young side. All the girls are gaining good experience through this tournament. We needed more runs. Our side is very energetic and even towards the end we did not give up. We would like to maintain that energy in the next game too.

This is Bangladesh's first victory in a WT20I in the year 2024. It has been a tough year in which they have been put through some stern tests. However today, against a less favoured opposition, they have turned the tables and notched up a comprehensive win.

They were lead well by Nigar Sultana, who set good fields and backed her bowlers to bowl flighted deliveries at the stumps. The plan worked as the inexperienced Thai batting line up failed to score runs at a brisk pace initially and later crumbled under the pressure of the dot balls. Rabeya Khan was the pick of the bowlers.

With the bat, Bangladesh started off well with Dilara Akter smashing three consecutive boundaries in the second over itself. Though a horrible mix up, cut short her stay in the middle. Though, her partner then took the responsibility and notched up an impressive fifty to set up the win for Bangladesh.

For Thailand, there wasn't much to cheer about. However, Boochatham's 41, Sutthiruang's skilful spell with the new ball and the skipper's tight overs are some positives that they could look to build on for the next game.
