So, the Brisbane Heat jump to fifth place with this win and get themselves in contention for the playoff spots. It's not the end of the road for the Hobart Hurricanes either, with a couple of games remaining for them this season. There'll be plenty on the line and to play for in this final round of league matches, so make sure you stick around with Sportskeeda to stay up-to-date with all the action. For now though, this is Pratyush, signing off on behalf of my friends, Soorya and Bidipto. Have a good weekend, folks! Buh bye.
Marnus Labuschagne: Great to have three wins in a row at this stage of the tournament! This does give us a lot of hear attack, but we are hanging in there for sure! Michael Neser is a class act no matter what the format, and young Spencer Johnson was throwing down some rockets to make life difficult for batting. Well Matt Renshaw's bowling today was perfect, in terms of the lengths he chose to bowl and the pace at which he bowled. On the whole, an impressive performance from the team and hopefully, this winning run continues for us.
Brisbane Heat won by 12 runs!
Matt Renshaw - 41 (31) | Michael Neser - 3/27 Matthew Wade - 45 (37) | Joel Paris - 2/15
Brisbane Heat extended their winning run to three games in a row now and somehow, they've managed to stay in the fight for the playoffs with this late surge. It was a proper team performance from the side, fighting it out in a tough situation to emerge victorious in their own backyard. That's a treat for the crowd too, as was this game, that went down to the wire.
Posting 162-6 on the board in the first innings, the Heat might have thought they were slightly under par on this surface. Matt Renshaw's quickfire 41 was responsible to get them to that score, which proved to be enough in the end, courtesy of their bowlers.
Michael Neser got the ball rolling with a couple of wickets in the powerplay to get rid of McDermott and Crawley. The Hurricanes were under a bit of pressure at 14-2 before Wade steered them to a decent position alongside Jewell. However, the Heat spinners did well to strangle them in the middle to apply some pressure.
It was Renshaw's three over spell that proved to be really valuable, also getting the wicket of Jewell. Bazley got Wade soon after, derailing this Hobart run chase completely. The wheels fell off in the power surge with only 11 coming off the two overs, which eventually left Tim David with too much to do in the end.
As he so often does, the giant from Singapore fought valiantly until the very end. His 27-ball-44 wasn't enough to save the Hurricanes and get them over the line. Michael Neser led this bowling attack and had an admirable deputy in Spencer Johnson, who was also superb for his 1/22.

19.6 Spencer Johnson to Tim David, ANOTHER IMPORTANT WIN FOR BRISBANE HEAT! Full outside off, David makes contact to this one, gets it away to long-on, but off the inside edge more than the middle and they settle for a single to finish the match!
Seems like we've got a heckler on the field. The security ushers him off the field. This game's done and dusted now. Brisbane are going to keep their winning run going.
19.5 Spencer Johnson to Tim David, good length faster ball outside off, a massive swipe across the line and a beat by getting cramped for room, under the bat! Another dot ball!
That was in the slot for David. He lost his shape and missed out there. Top class stuff from Johnson though. Now, all he has to do is bowl two legal deliveries.
19.4 Spencer Johnson to Tim David, full outside off, David gives it the kitchen sink across the line by shuffling across but again, fails to connect! No run.
19.3 Spencer Johnson to Tim David, short and wide outside off, cut down to the left of deep backward point off the back foot, for two more runs, but is that going to be enough?
