Commentary

It is turning out to be yet another edition of the Asia Cup where India are bullying oppositions and delineating how strong a team they are. They have barged into the finals without really being challenged. Their final opponent would be decided tonight when Sri Lanka and Pakistan go head to head in the second semifinal. We would be there to take you through the action as it unfolds. For now, it is the duo of Darpan Tikiya and Rudransh Khurana signing off!

Harmanpreet Kaur (India Captain): I think our bowlers did a great job. Whatever we spoke of in the team meetings, they executed that. For us things are simple. We want to keep on doing what we are doing for a long time. The training has been going on nicely. We try to execute whatever we plan. The bowlers are hitting the right lines and lengths. They give me a lot of confidence. Consistency is they key. Day after tomorrow is an important game for us. We would watch the game tonight and prepare accordingly.

Renuka Thakur (3/10, Player of the Match): I feel very happy. It was a big game for us. To perform in this kind of a game is great pleasure. I was getting some assistance from the swing. I like bowling with the new ball. So, I was happy to bowl the 4 overs upfront. Happy to take wickets no matter how they come.

Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh Captain): We couldn't get the ideal start we wanted. Losing so many wickets early on is never good. When your top-order is not getting runs it's difficult. It's just a mental block. We did so well against Malaysia and Thailand. Here we are playing shots against everything. We have to fix our batting issues. That's why we have been losing so many matches. I am sure the coaching staff will come out with a plan. Shorna Akter has a job to do in the last five overs. She was unlucky today. But she's a good young player, who's showing the way straight after the under-19 World Cup.

India barge into the finals of the Asia Cup with a thumping victory in the semifinals. For Bangladesh, this match felt like a nightmare that they couldn't wait to see the end of. The toss was perhaps the only thing that went in their favour.

Their batters came out with an intent to go after the bowling. The thinking was bold. However, the execution was way off. We saw one incorrigible shot after the other and the Indian fielders were sharp, ready to pounce upon any and every opportunity that came their way. Soon, Bangladesh had to change their plans as batting out even 20 overs started to seem like a challenge.

In the end, they managed only 80 runs in total. It was never going to be enough. But then, things only got even worse. Nahida Akter spilled a regulation catch and also missed a runout chance. Mandhana hit a full toss straight to a fielder but it turned out to be a no-ball. Absolutely nothing went their way and India kept marching along.

Mandhana brought up her first T20I fifty against Bangladesh and also went past Meg Lanning in the list of all time run getters. But the star for India was Renuka Thakur who broke the back of the opposition batting lineup with her early breakthroughs. Radha Yadav too chipped in with a 3for.
