Commentary

The trophy is now handed down to Mitchell Santer who holds it in the middle and poses with the team. It was an enjoyable tour for the Kiwis who will now go to their last consignment in the United Kingdom - Scotland. Andrew Balbarnie (Ireland captain): It was a pretty good score that we put on the board. It was a pretty impressive chase from them and due credit for that. We didn't pick up many wickets and it was a good effort towards the end. We talked about taking the momentum from the first innings into the chase but the BlackCaps outdid us. It was a shame that we couldn't win anything on this tour but we enjoyed our cricket.

Mitchell Santner (New Zealand captain): Credit to our bench strength at the moment, these guys can come in at any stage of the game and step up straightaway. Guys like Bracewell and Cleaver have played a lot of domestic cricket and we take pride in the way we play our cricket. We have assigned different guys different roles and it is good to see them perform them

Glenn Philips, Player of the Match and Series: It was the team effort that got us through. We talk about running between the wickets a lot, it helped us win today. With the WC in Australia around the corner, it becomes more important. I would've preferred a higher scoring rate for myself but at the end of the day it is just a team's game and winning is the only motive.

ODIs, check and now T20Is, check. New Zealand has swept the Irish across formats on their tour as they win this match and also seal the series. Their Europe leg continues to be a fruitful one as they have unearthed a couple of stars who can win them games in the next few matches that will be played in Scotland and the Netherlands.

New Zealand got off to a quick start as Finn Allen took the attack to the bowlers but was dismissed on the last ball of the second over. Dane Cleaver looked to continue from where he left off in the previous game but failed to get the ball cleanly from the middle of the bat. Martin Guptill and Glenn Phillips saw through the powerplay phase as they ended with a good total that set them a good platform to go on and explode in the middle overs.

Guptill was the next one to fall as he offered the man at short third man the easiest chances. Mitchell and Phillips then forged a partnership between themselves as they scored 82 runs for the 4th wicket. Micthell fell but Phillips went about his business as per normal, scoring his 2nd half-century in the series. Neesham added the finishing touches as he capped off the game with a huge blow into the stands and sealed the deal for the Kiwis.

As for Ireland's bowling, it was Josh Little who picked up 2 wickets. George Dockrell and Craig Young picked up a wicket each but there wasn't much support from the other bowlers who could pick up wickets and help them. Young was also very expensive as he was taken apart by Finn Allen early in the powerplay.
