This is Probuddha Bhattacharjee signing off from this match on behalf of my co-commentator Rudransh. Stay tuned on Sportskeeda as we bring you the live coverage of other matches from the world of cricket.
Well in a truly drastic and dramatic turn of events, the game has been called off here. The Renegades won the toss and decided to field first. Batting seemed really difficult on the wicket as there was invariable bounce. The game was paused when one delivery bounced way more than expected from the good length spot. The umpires got into discussion, there was a lot of conversations between the players, the umpires and even Cricket Australia was involved. Ultimately the game as called off as the wicket was deemed unsafe for the players.
Ashton Agar: I am doing alright. The last 10 weeks have been really good. Very strange situation. I feel sorry for the fans. We love coming out here and playing for the fans. It's a shame but that's cricket I guess. I got this necklace for my 30th. I love my jewellery and felt this was the right time to wear it. I am not too worried about being judged!
Match Umpires: Well I guess the last delivery behaved quite dangerously and that is reason we have called off. When we stared off, after having a look at the conditions it looked okay. Also for the first few overs it was fine but then things started to go south and then the last delivery was too much. We cleared the players about the situation and informed them about the decision we are about to take. The players' feedback was similar to what we thought.
A big BOOOOO goes around the ground. And here's why: THE MATCH HAS BEEN CALLED OFF! Players are shaking hands. The pitch has been deemed too dangerous.
Some guys have changed into more comfortable clothes and the broadcasters have taken a break as well.
Aaron Finch: Similar things have happened in England and once in India. It's a shame because we had so much rain yesterday and the ground's on a slope. Can't remember anything like that happening (talk of pitch being rolled again). It must be protocol to involve CA. We want to get it back on as well. We'll sign some autographs. We appreciate the support.
There is still no decision here. It has been 15 minutes since the last ball was bowled in this game and the wait is getting annoying for everyone involved. The match referee has dragged back the captains and seems like there will be another conversation.
Doesn't seem like we have a decision yet. Discussions everywhere. The word from the ground is that Cricket Australia is involved in a meeting with the umpires and Ricky Ponting is fuming on air that the board is involved.
Quinton de Kock: The weather is quite cold. I have come here from 30-35 degrees and this feels better. No not really, the pitch does not seem to keep really low. Most of the balls coming to me was a little slower than expected but they were coming at a good height. I think the match officials will decide what is best for the game. Whatever they decide we will have to accept it. It was a great World Cup. We lost to Aussies sadly, but it was the better team who won that day. Like I said, it was bit sad, but am really grateful that I had a great tournament.
