England have now won 8 of their last 9 test matches. The newly formed duo of Stokes and McCullum has brought English cricket back to life. Bazball is popularly credited for bringing an aggressive batting approach to English cricket but one thing that has been overlooked is that the bowlers have also been able to pick up 20 wickets on the flattest of surfaces.

Pakistan will need some serious regrouping here while the England camp will be overjoyed after this historic series win. The players will now get an extra day's rest ahead of the third test. Still, plenty to play for in the series as every test match counts for the World Test Championship points.

Ben Stokes (England Captain): The conditions were very different to Pindi. Things happened very differently compared to last week. We saw that the wicket would be tricky to bat on against the slower bowlers. As the game progressed, the cracks opened up and our seamers made the most of the conditions. I think I did not need to bowl here, Jimmy and Robbo did a fantastic job and so did the spinners. Taking a look at the conditions helped us decide what would be a suitable total to defend. Hats off to the lads, they have given their all. Amazing debut for Abrar, he took seven wickets but we were still scoring against him.

Babar Azam: (First innings batting costing them the game) To be honest, yes. We weren't up to the mark in the first innings. There were a couple of soft dismissals and we didn't finish well. We fought back well in the second innings but it wasn't enough in the end. We have a simple plan - to try and carry on the momentum. We had a few good partnerships but we didn't finish well in the end as a batting unit. The tailenders also fought well but it wasn't enough. (Thoughts on Abrar's performance) It was a dream start for Abrar. He used the conditions really well in the first innings and did well in the second one. (Third Test) Definitely looking forward to the Karachi Test. We will do our best there.

Harry Brook is the Player of the Match. Here is what he has to say: I tried to learn from my mistakes in the first innings and not be too aggressive but still put a bit of pressure on the bowlers. (Playing on turners) We knew before coming into the game that it would turn. There was quite a bit of chat around that. We weren't surprised but he just didn't bat as well in the second innings. (Plan in the second innings) We just wanted to get out there and play our brand of cricket. We wanted to put pressure on the bowlers and that paid off.

What a win, what a win for England! They have travelled to Pakistan after 17 long years and won the series. With this defeat, Pakistan's chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship final look bleak. They lost the toss and were asked to field first. England came out with all guns blazing. They got to a good first innings score owing to decent contributions from Pope and Duckett. Abrar was the only Pakistani bowler who could exploit the conditions.

Pakistan gave away a considerable first innings lead to the visitors. They were off to a great start but once Babar and Saud departed, the hosts capitulated. Leach played a big role in that collapse while the pacers made a decent contribution.

England came out to bat with the same aggressive approach. Harry Brook's century and another vital contribution from Duckett helped England reach 275 and set up a big target of 355. Abrar was once again the pick of the bowlers and only had little support from Zahid.

The target looked impossible but Rizwan and Shafique gave Pakistan a head start. After their partnership was broken, Pakistan faced a mini collapse but Imam and Shakeel regrouped the innings. At one point it seemed like they would chase down this total. Shakeel's partnership with Faheem had taken Pakistan very close to victory. However, they were both dismissed right at the stroke of lunch and England just ran through the tail after the break to win another thriller!
