Hamish McKenzie is the Player of the Match! Here is what he has to say.

Hamish McKenzie: It is pretty surreal! The whole week has been a bit of a cherry on top! I came through the pathway stuff in Western Australia. I was lucky enough to get a contract with Western Australia and then the Scorchers spotted me. I was a leggie all the time. It was really awesome to bowl in front of the Shane Warne Stand, just awesome!

You have read or heard these words innumerable times in the past 2 seasons: Perth Scorchers take a clinical win! After the wash out in the previous game, they start their season in the perfect fashion!

Perth Scorchers win by 7 wickets with 6.1 overs to spare.

Just perfect from the Scorchers this. The Stars didn't have much going their way and they didn't help themselves by missing more than a few half chances. And when you are defending 101, you need everything from luck, skill, blood and sweat just mixing together to form some pressure.

The Scorchers knew that and were prepared from ball one in the second innings. Stoinis got it to swing a bit and bowled a good first over but both Conolly and Eskinazi got going in the second and the third overs. Stoinis stuck with Paris for the fourth, much to the chagrin of supporters who wanted to see Rauf early, but he ended up with a wicket.

Eskinazi and Hardie couldn't convert their starts either but they did their jobs of absorbing the pressure and getting a few boundaries away. The Stars missed a couple of run-out attempts, Rauf dropped a catch at third man so the heat was never really on on the Scorchers.

Inglis and Turner came out and put up a display of their experience, just calming things down and taking the singles and doubles on offer without too many risks. Once set, they hit a couple of boundaries against Dawson to finish things off. They left Strikers desperate to turn things around in the BBL and made a statement about Scorchers for the season.
