While the scoreline was a fair reflection of the series, the West Indians had plenty of positives to take from this series. None more than Nicholas Pooran's return to form. Rovman Powell's muscle in the middle order was impressive as well, but the top-order will be a huge cause of concern still, in both white-ball formats.
As far as India are concerned, there'll be some more new faces in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. The chopping and changing is expected to go on, as India looks to march on in this Rohit-Dravid era with one eye on the T20 World Cup.
As is the norm, the Indian skipper collects the trophy before handing it over to the youngsters. It's another bilateral series victory for India as they move to the top of the ICC rankings in T20Is. It's a clean sweep for them in the ODI and T20I series. Now, they'll look to keep this going against Sri Lanka, as that series gets underway in a few days time. As for the West Indians, their red-ball contingent will be gearing up for the Test series against England.
Rohit Sharma (Indian captain): The team that used to chase, there are not many people in the squad anymore. Whether we bat or field first, the challenge was in both departments for us. For middle order is relatively new. We wanted to tick all the boxes. Pretty happy with the series. We pretty much got what we were looking for from this series. Hopefully, we can keep building on that. (inexperience in the side) That's the one thing that we spoke about. We do understand that we are still a very good chasing team. There are a lot of guys missing from that squad, so we wanted to understand how these young guns react to the pressure while chasing and even while batting first. That is something that we saw throughout the ODI series as well. The top-order wasn't as successful but the middle order bailed up out of tough situations. A lot of the guys made their opportunities count. Those are good signs as a group. Was particularly impressed with our seam bowlers. Even here. Avesh was on debut, Harshal hasn't played too many games and Thakur hasn't been playing consistently either. It's not easy. It was a good challenge for us to defend in both games, and we did pretty well. (For the Sri Lanka series) We wanted to make sure guys are fresh. With one eye on World Cup, we want to make sure some guys get game time. I will not look at the opposition, I will look at what we have to do as a team. Hopefully, we tick the box of ground fielding and catching as well.

I just wanted to replicate what I did in the first game. It was very important to stay till the end when Rohit got out and take the team till the end. We have spoken about how we can react to tough situations. Today worked out well for me. I'm just trying to repeat the same process. I try to keep things really simple. When the situations arrive, I just want to get the job done.
Kieron Pollard (West Indies captain): We were on top of the game till about the 15th over. We gave away 85 runs in the last 5 overs and gave them the momentum. Having said that, we had a good start with the bat but failed to capitalize on it. We haven't won a game but Nicholas has shown his consistency. The guys picked themselves up at any given point in time. Rovman Powell also showed that he's got enough to be a part of the white ball team as well. The guys coming to India is always an experience for them. We had an opportunity to win the ODI series as well in some moments. These guys are finding their feet and are learning on the job in international cricket. For us, from a T20 perspective, we went to the T20 WC with experience but didn't get the job done. With the World Cup eight months away, the more cricket these guys play, the better they are going to get.
Shardul Thakur: I think so. If I'm doing the job for India as well, I have to look forward to it. I have done it for CSK but it's a much bigger responsibility with India. You have to be ready to use your variations. You are bound to go for runs. One or two boundaries are okay, you have to be mentally tough. It's about the next delivery, which is important. You have to follow your process. The basic idea was to bowl wide yorkers. It doesn't matter what I'm bowling, it has to be according to my field. If the batters hits me in the gap, that's fine. We have to keep sticking with what we're doing.
Harshal Patel: We spoke about the ball holding onto the wicket. We decided to bowl fuller on this wicket and not pitch it short because that was coming on nicely. You need to have the clarity and execute your deliveries. Also have a Plan B, in case things don't go your way. It's all about focusing on the next delivery and executing your role. There was a dampness in the wicket because of the overcast weather today. That was making it a bit difficult for us with the landing area. Apart from that, there wasn't much dew. We've played in worse conditions than these.
India won by 17 runs.
Handshakes all around as the two sides end the series which was played in good spirits. After some experiments tonight, India will be pleased to come out on the winning side. The batting order was mixed around, and so were the death bowlers, but all the players put their hands up when called upon and delivered for the side.
It was SKY and Venky Iyer with the bat tonight, with Shardul Thakur and Harshal Patel leading India to victory at the death. After the threatening partnership between Pooran and Powell that got off the visitors to a flyer, the wheels fell off for the West Indians as they lost their way. Bishnoi kept things under control in the middle overs, while Deepak Chahar's early spell was brilliant as well. His injury though, will be the only cause of concern for India.
West Indies will feel like they've thrown this one away from a winning position. A few positives from this in this series, none bigger than Nicholas Pooran's return to form, but there's still plenty of work to be done for them. As far as India are concerned, there are tones of positives to take away as they head into the series against Sri Lanka in a week's time.
There it is! The Indian bowlers hold their nerve to clinch another victory against the West Indies and clean sweep this series. 3-0 in the ODIs. 3-0 in the T20Is. As clinical as you'd like! India win by 17 runs.
