That is all we have from the commentary for this encounter. It was a pleasure bringing you all the live updates from this match. Till the next time, this is Arya Sekhar Chakraborty taking your leave along with my fellow commentator and very good mate Pradeep.

Kane Williamson, New Zealand skipper- I think Bangladesh batted nicely in the powerplay. We knew that the wicket was going to be a challenge. We pulled it back nicely with the spin. It was great to keep them to a below-par score and then finish the job in the second half. Having no pace on the ball was clearly quite difficult and our spinners were fantastic and the fast bowlers complemented them very well. I mean Ish has been amazing for us for a long period.

He is an aggressive option and has won a lot of matches for us. 100 wickets for him and hopefully plenty more to come. We weren’t expecting to drop too many catches. One of those days really, we will keep working hard. We pride ourselves on our fielding and we have to keep working hard. There is a few guys with a few bits and pieces going on. The schedule is very tough. We have to be smart with the selections with the World Cup around.

Shakib Al Hasan (Captain, Bangladesh): I thought wth the used wicket, New Zealand spinners bowled really well, we started off well but we lost the plot in those middle overs. Top three or four need to put the hands out till the 15th or 16th over, at the moment it's not happening, we have still two more games, hopefully we'll get there. Not really, supposed to bat up the order, two spinners bowling, we didn't want to expose the left-hander, it'll be ideal with the right hand and left hand combination. Both the games, the bowlers put their hands up, that's one area we've ticked the marks but will keep on working. It's hard to keep the energy after losing two games, with the world cup coming, the remaining games will be crucial for us.

Michael Bracewell has been adjudged the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: I think I was able to hit the right areas and bowling to our batters in the net is proving to be worthy. We've got a tight group of spinners, like to share ideas and have been picking our brains, managed to get good figures today but Ish bowled pretty well too. I still quite miss out on batting, I'd like to contribute whenever there's an opportunity, I'm ok to whereever my team wants me to bat. (Chuckles on the drop catch) Didn't quite pick that one at all coming right out of the son.

Bangladesh needed early wickets to give themselves an outside chance of defending this below-par score. Finn Allen and Devon Conway struggled a bit initially but managed to tick the scoreboard. Allen was caught at deep backward square leg just after smashing one over that same fielder. However, from there on, it was a sensible display of batsmanship by Devon Conway and Kane Williamson.

They rotated the strike and found the boundaries at crucial junctures to never allow the required rate to creep up. Conway looked the more fluent out of the two batters but it was equally important for Williamson to spend some time in the middle. Hasan Mahmud looked in good shape and bowled some tidy overs but unfortunately couldn’t quite break the partnership. Once Conway realized that the target was well within grasp, he started showing his full repertoire of shots.

He came dancing down the track to smash Shakib Al Hasan for a 107 m six over long-on and then struck some delightful shots to follow that monstrous blow. Williamson kept rotating the strike and just when he was getting the timing right, he tried to chip one over the mid-on fielder but couldn’t quite get the elevation and was holed out. Conway went on to complete a well-deserved half-century and ensured that he stayed there till the end to see his side through. In the end it was the fireworks from Glenn Philips which took New Zealand over the finishing line in double quick time. He remained unbeaten on just 23 off 9 deliveries while Conway remained unbeaten on 70 off 51 deliveries.

It was New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson who won the toss and put Bangladesh in. Trent Boult and Tim Southee began nicely with the new ball, with the latter getting the wicket of Mehidy Hasan Miraz early on. Liton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto played some delightful shots and got their side off to a steady start, scoring 41 at the end of the powerplay.

However, as soon as the spinners were introduced, it went pear-shaped for Bangladesh. Michael Bracewell got the prized wicket of Liton Das in his very first over and that ensured that Bangladesh was always behind the eight ball from there on. It was surprising to see Shakib Al Hasan not walking out at the fall of Liton’s wicket.

Najmul Hossain Shanto mistimed quite a few deliveries and eventually perished at the hands of Ish Sodhi as he tried to clear the long-off fence. Afif Hossain tried to resurrect the innings but he couldn’t time the ball either. Mosaddek Hossain and Yasir Ali’s stay in the crease was short-lived as the spinners were all over Bangladesh and kept chipping away with the wickets.

Strangely, Shakib came as late as No 7 and despite finding the gaps on a few occasions, it was never a fluent innings from the skipper who was eventually dismissed by Tim Southee in the 18th over. Nurul Hasan provided a bit of momentum for the visitors with a couple of lusty blows of the penultimate over but still Bangladesh failed to get to a competitive score. Nurul eventually remained unbeaten on 25 off 12 deliveries to give the Bangladesh bowlers something to bowl at.

That’s the end of the match as New Zealand romps home by 8 wickets. A comprehensive victory in the end and Bangladesh need to lift their game if they harbor hopes of reaching the tri-series final. Philips rushes to the spectator just after smashing the slot delivery from Shoriful over the long-on fence. He was not ready to take the game deep and took the onus on himself to finish it off with 13 deliveries to spare.

17.5 Shoriful Islam to Glenn Philips, SIX! BOOM! FINISHES THINGS IN STYLE! Rushes straight away to the person who got hit later on to check on him, so good to see that from a player. But, Philips did what he was sent in to do as he CLUBBED another one down to long-on for a maximum.

Philips is concerned about a spectator who got hit with this last shot.
