A comprehensive show indeed by the Blackcaps and they'll have a day off tomorrow to put their feet up ahead of the final against Pakistan. Speaking of Pakistan, they'll be in action tomorrow against Bangladesh and both sides will have another opportunity to tune up well ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Tim Southee (New Zealand Captain): It was (comprehensive). When you get a score like that on the board it's always makes it easier. It was a pretty solid batting performance. The way Devon played...Finn obviously showed what he's got at the top and Guptill in an unusual position for him contributed well. Glenn's been outstanding for a period of time now. I said at the toss about us being together as a group for the first time in a while even though we've played a number of T20s over the winter. When you've got a score like that they're going to come hard. We may have been a little sloppy in the first 10 overs with the ball and in the field as well. Still stuff to work on. A very good win but we're always looking at ways to improve. (On the fielding) Hopefully when it gets a bit warmer it'll improve (grins) but obviously we've been sloppy. It's something we pride ourselves on and it certainly hasn't been to the standard we've set as a side. It's something we'll look at in the next few weeks. (On the final) We have a few injuries - hopefully we can scrap up over the next 24-48 hours and that'll determine which side we play on Friday. Pakistan are a very good T20 side and it's another opportunity to go out and play another competitive match ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh Captain): I thought we played well. It was a good pitch, different from the others we were playing on. I thought New Zealand put up a very good total. We should have scored maybe 15-20 runs more and got closer. If you look at our three games, it's been the same pattern. After 10 overs, we are losing too many wickets and not able to build momentum. I think we're not that far - there are one or two areas we can look to change. We don't have too many options to be honest. We are trying to give guys enough games to know what will be the best combination ahead of the World Cup. If we can get a win here (tomorrow) it will give us a lot of momentum so tomorrow's game is important.

Let's hear it from Glenn Phillips, the Player of the Match: I wasn't expecting this (the Player of the Match award) as the knock that Devon (Conway) played was fantastic. He did well with Guptill to set things up for me and the others to go from ball one. I have been working out in the gym to get stronger and thankfully, the shots came off today. The Bangladeshis must have done their homework as they restricted my scoring behind the wicket. I thought that going down the ground was the best option today. Really pleased with this performance.

It was always going to be an arduous task chasing down 209 but Bangladesh gave it all. Don't go by what the scoreboard suggests - the chase was very much on the cards at the halfway mark and they showed brilliant intent and positivity after their bowlers and fielders let them down to concede a mammoth 208 with Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips calling the shots for New Zealand.

The openers got off to a brisk start by usual standards with Litton Das batting like a million dollars. Najmul Hossain Shanto couldn't make it count but Das and Soumya Sarkar came out breathing intent. Despite losing a couple of wickets, the Tigers posted 52 in the Powerplay, indicating that they were definitely in for a scrap.

Leading the way thereafter was skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who pierced the field and cleared the inner ring to great effect to pick the gap for fun. This was the philosophy that Bangladesh have been preaching for a while now owing to the lack of six-hitters in their side but it was something they had failed to put to practice. Today though, was a step in the right direction.

The asking rate still crept steadily and it was post the wicket of Sarkar that the Kiwis applied the choke with Michael Bracewell finding himself amongst the wickets again. The X-factor though was Adam Milne, who used his pace and variations to great effect while also firing yorkers for fun to tie down the batters. Eventually, the equation got out of bounds despite Shakib waging a lone battle.

Eventually, despite all his efforts and smarts, there was just far too much to do with the Kiwi seamers turning in a professional display at the death. Tim Southee's bowling changes worked like a charm today and the Kiwis have put in another step in the right direction, marching into the summit clash and taking Pakistan with them while Bangladesh have been eliminated. That said, the Tigers have a lot of positives to take out of their approach with the bat and they must use this as their template going ahead. Stick around for the presentation...
