So, after an absolute thriller of a game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, we call it a day friends. Rajasthan Royals have been shell-shocked by this defeat and will take some inspiration to get themselves going. Sunrisers Hyderabad have got a shot in the arm here with this extraordinary win! That's the magic of the IPL, it just has the license to thrill over and over again! This is the pair of Karthik Raj and Bidipto taking your leave. Join us again tomorrow for another exhilarating match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings from Kolkata. This is the pair of Karthik Raj and Bidipto, saying good night. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Glenn Phillips has been adjudged the Player of the Match! Here is what he has to say.
Glenn Phillips: We're all doing our job and I'm glad that I could do what the team required at such a crucial stage. I held on to my nerves and backed myself to clear the ropes. Did it thrice, found the boundary once and pulled things towards us quite significantly I suppose. The ball I got out to was perhaps the most easy one to put away, but that's how it goes I guess. Have to come back again and produce a winning performance again now.
Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper): This was a really close game but really happy and extremely relieved to have finished on the winning side. This was indeed a steep target but the way we stuck to it and never gave up right through our batting effort. Eventually, Glenn Phillips and Abdul Samad got the job done for us under extreme pressure. I think it is both the skills and the temperament that are required to pull off such spectacular feats under high pressure. Both Glenn and Samad were brilliant!
Abdul Samad: When I went to bat, it was a difficult situation. Phillips gave us the injection. I was waiting for the ball to land in the slot. I was lucky today with the no-ball. (What the umpire told before the final delivery) He told us that we required four runs off the last ball. (About Glenn Phillips' cameo) He is the game-changer for us. We are still in the game and look forward to carry this momentum for the upcoming matches.
Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals skipper): Matches like these are what makes the IPL special. I was very confident with Sandeep. He has won us a similar game previously, he did it today too but the no-ball ruined it. Nothing much, it is a no-ball, you have to bowl again. Sure, there might be a change in the mind-set but you can't step over the line in such a situation. Life is never easy playing this format, especially this tournament. We will try to come back stronger.
Sunrisers Hyderabad win by 4 wickets!
Abhishek Sharma 55 (34) | Marco Jansen - 1/44 (4) Jos Buttler 95 (59) | Yuzvendra Chahal - 4/29 (4)
What a match! Considering everything, this has to be the best match of the tournament by far, up to now! The last ball had to be bowled twice and elation and dejection switched hands from one team to another in those! Rajasthan Royals, who won it, ended up losing the game thanks to a no-ball and a magnificent strike for six under pressure by Abdul Samad! And this means that Sunrisers Hyderabad continue to stay alive in the tournament.
The start of the innings was slow. This slow nature of the batting continued till the time Heinrich Klaasen came out to bat. By then, Abhishek Sharma had scored his half-century and Rahul Tripathi was looking busy at the crease. But Klaasen started providing the innings much needed impetus to get abreast with the asking rate.
Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a tremendous 4-over spell in which he took 4 wickets under extreme pressure, giving away only 29 runs. Wickets of Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram kind of sealed the game in favour of the Royals. His performance kind of made up for Trent Boult's absence.
Glenn Phillips, who replaced Harry Brook, faced Kuldip Yadav in the 19th over with over 45 runs remaining. He got out in the 5th ball of the over but by then, he hit three sixes and a boundary! One could not have asked for a better performance from the New Zealand power hitter in such short time!
17 runs were left to get off the final over. Five balls were bowled and the requirement was 5 runs off 1 ball. Sandeep Sharma got Abdul Samad out, caught at long-off and the match was Rajasthan Royals', finally.
Just when everything was getting done and dusted, came the announcement that rocked the home side! It was a no-ball. Sandeep had overstepped! That meant 4 runs to get off 1 ball but the emotional roller-coaster was tough to bear for the Sanju Samson-led side.
Abdul Samad held on to his nerve and smashed Sandeep over his head by going deep in the crease and picked up a match-winning six!
Sanju Samson's missed run out, his drop catch and Obed McCoy, the impact sub's dropped catch in the final over proved costly for sure. But none bigger that Sandeep's no-ball!
So, with this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad move to 8 points and stay alive in the competition. But, another massive heartbreak for the Rajasthan Royals keeps them on 10 points with more work in order to qualify for the playoffs.
We could not have asked for a better script than this! We could not have had a better game at this stage of the tournament than this! Sunrisers Hyderabad have done it. They have pulled off a win out of nowhere!

19.6 Sandeep Sharma to Abdul Samad, SAMAD DOES IT FOR SRH! Full outside-off, Samad moves across, gets low and smashes it straight down the ground for a maximum. Words fall short to describe what has just happened. THE IPL CONTINUES TO DELIVER! A remarkable four-wicket victory for SRH!
Sunrisers Hyderabad now need 4 runs to win off 1 ball!
